I never realised Sterling joined Liverpool from QPR in 2010, I thought he was a product of their academy....
Weird logic, isn't it? He left QPR to become the highest paid teenager in English football at Liverpool. Now, Liverpool are surprised because he wants to leave them and become the highest paid 21 year old in English football.
Billy Beane would be proud of him. It's exactly the sort of activity that the whole Moneyball concept promotes. Whilst all of the lip-service and platitudes will get a jolly good airing beforehand, be under no illusion, FSG and their pen-pushing minions at Anfield (though not, obviously, the remaining genuine football people at Liverpool FC) will be as deeply proud of any profit made on the inevitable sale of Raheem Sterling as say, Joe Fagan was in bringing home the European Cup - because that's the mentality backboning Liverpool nowadays. They're a selling club, no more, no less.
