Hope the stories about Suarez going are true. Without him, and with Gerrard coming rapidly to the end of his career and Rodgers unable to organise a defence, last season's second place could well turn out to be be a distant memory.

It was obvious last night how Suarez's presence elevated Uruguay's performance - while it showed at the same time that without him , the scouse element looked like what they are - past it and average.
