Re: The Red Lion Pub Team (Liverpool) Thread 2014/15

I'm just gonna throw this out there...

Torres will be back at Anfield by mid Jan, with Balotelli going the other way to AC.

It makes so much sense on so many levels, they'll never do it :-)

Ha. Brilliant. Some wonderful stuff on there. This one being my personal favourite:

You know somewhere out there in Europe, other top clubs are clapping their hands - "Welcome back, Liverpool. See you next year".

I suspect fans of other top clubs are more likely to be thinking "Please don't riot and push a wall on us" or perhaps "Please don't drop a large stone onto my head while I'm lying unconcious on the ground".

Or perhaps they're clapping to celebrate the guaranteed six points during the group stage when they play the Red Lion

Dunno if we can absolve match-going fans of too much.
The behaviour at Anfield v us, last year was less than exemplary. From the giddiness in greeting the team bus before that and every other home game since March, through booing our every touch, to cheering when Yaya was carried off and bricking the odd coach afterwards, it's not an admirable record.
One could argue that this was a high profile, high intensity game where all their worst traits were perhaps magnified but ultimately that's no excuse. And please, let's not blame it all on day trippers either. You can't have a club manager threatening to 'unleash the crowd', wallow under the sychophantic gaze the Sky cameras during You'll Never Walk Alone, and generally bathe in self praise but then just shrug off all of the negatives as "not really us" or some sort of internet jealousy.

Last season soured things for me and I suspect many other City fans, we had the Liverpool Ex Players Mafia all over the Media even one heard one say "When they win it not if" so much so that our Title win was almost ignored it was like we had gatecrashed a party, now add that to the giddiness of the fans with their premature celebrations and one of the most annoying sanctimonious pricks as a manager

It was not just City fans happy that we beat them, I have not met a fan of any other team that wanted them to win it (witness the Slipped on his arse song at nearly every ground) because they all knew what a media shit storm they would unleash there would have been songs, plays movies special TV programmes you name it, the cult would have been force fed to us

From rawk
How can anyone be so blinkered! I will try to spell it out for you why fans in general are resentful - Whatever commercial advantages Liverpool, United, Arsenal had in your view were because they were good. They were top teams first and that is why they had money. BEING GOOD CAME FIRST, MONEY (what ever you think) CAME LATER

You on the other hand were nothing till the money came in. MONEY CAME FIRST, BEING GOOD CAME LATER.
Liverpool didnt win the FA Cup untill 1965 & didnt win a Euro Trophy until 1972.
The club was relegated to the Second Division in the 1953–54 season.[8] Soon after Liverpool lost 2–1 to non-league Worcester City in the 1958–59 FA Cup, Bill Shankly was appointed manager.
AND he was soon followed by a truckfull of Littlewoods Pools money.
Arsenal were bought their FIRST Trophy in 1931 by the corrupt owner who was later banned from football for life.
He bought Half Huddesfields title winning team AND the manager.
We've done the rags many times.
SO the guy on rawk who posted that is either a liar or has been brainwashed by the other clowns on that forum.
Love to see his reply to that load of facts.

I love this...

“The message for me is clear, I don’t think there would be anyone better to do the job here,” Rodgers said. “Seven months ago we nearly won the title unexpectedly, I had time to work with players and took them beyond where the club has been. This has been a difficult start with new players and less coaching time with young players, virtually starting again. I don’t think there is anybody equipped better to deal with that and deal with that having been here for the last 2½ years and experienced what this club is about."

... Brendan really does love himself a bit much doesn't he.
Never knocked him before much but that sounds great for those of us wanting a laugh. I think he is in denial or something.

My partner phoned me from work today and she told me a scouser was saying minnows or malingerers or something to that effect, knowing my allegiance , all I said to her in reply was 'Champions league, I'm having a laugh, Champion's league, I'm having a laugh!

Apart from the factual inaccuracies, to describe any club as "nothing" tells you all you need to know about that person.

Re: The Red Lion Pub Team (Liverpool) Thread 2014/15

I lost a lot of respect for Rodgers last season when around the Hillsborough anniversary all he could say was "let`s do it for the 96,let`s do it for the 96.." ,to use that as some sort of motivational tool I found disgusting and cheap.....

Re: The Red Lion Pub Team (Liverpool) Thread 2014/15

Im just relieved he said no and turned us down when approached to be assistant under Bob IIRC.

The man has no fucking shame when it comes to self publicity but then again, he has learnt how to blow smoke up his own arse from his time under Mourinho.
