According to BBC’s sports bulletin last Tuesday morning, an English club hasn’t been in a CL semifinal for about six years, so there was obviously no coverage at all two years ago.

Ask ten Liverpool fans whether they'd rather win the Premier League or the Champions League in any given season and I'll hazard at least seven, possibly eight, would pick the former. After nearly three decades, it is a running sore amongst your support.

Oh, and for any lurkers. The name is a give away... Champions League, it should be reserved for Champions of their corresponding leagues in my opinion. How we have 7/8 teams from a 20 team league playing European football always baffles me tbh and it's only to do with money, the prestige of European footy has been dying for years.

I'm pretty sure most fans of any of the English clubs who have a realistic chance of winning major honours would start the season ranking it as Prem, CL, FA Cup and League Cup in that order. Certainly Liverpool fans would given (as you say) that they haven't won the league for nearly 30 years. If Liverpool win the CL, make no mistake, it is a fantastic achievement from them but why they have to try and paint a picture that they would always have rather won it than the title or that it is in some way a more successful season to win the CL than the league I have no idea. All this "ah but other fans don't understand our relationship with old big ears" bullshit, they just sound like twats. If we win the CL next season and don't win the league, I would be delighted with our own success but I wouldn't be stupid enough to say that winning the CL is more of an achievement than whoever has won the Prem.

You have to play every team twice, in a variety of weather conditions and every team and their supporters bust a gut to stop you in every game. In between you have cup games to contend with, unless you go out early like the dippers. The champions league you have to win seven games once you are out of the group stages. Without the officials help it is doubtful they would even still be in it.
