Well, according to Stan Collymore, city are set up to do it so it means almost nothing.

Forest won back to back European cups, having just signed Trevor Francis, the leagues first £1,000,000,000 player, with Shilton in goal - probably the most expensive keeper in the league at the time. But, according to Stan, is a bigger achievement than winning two Premiership titles back to back while at the same time retaining the League cup and going on to win the FA cup, with the Charity Shield in the bag - without us having the most expensive players in the league.

Despite Cloughie himself saying he'd much prefer to win the league, because it was a tougher battle and a more reflective competition on how good a team is.

But, yeah, if Liverpool had won even half of what City won this season - regardless of them spending £200 million on players - the media lovies would have made them heroes.

i don't know, but all this 'City were set up to do it' / 'City bought the league' bullshit just takes away from what we're actually witnessing at the Etihad - a team that have been sculpted together by probably the best manager this century to become the best team in the world.

No matter what these bitter idiots and sycophantic pundits say, City are still the team to catch, City are still the one's holding the lions share of trophies - not only in the men's team, but in the ladies team too.

The bitterness and the insults, the ignorance of forgetting just how good the City team is, how good a unit it is from Edderson to Sergio, in every position... And not just in the first team 11, but right across the squad - the ignorance of that seems to be blinding everyone.

My mate who is a Spurs fan said that he thought City were the only team who could beat Barcalona - and even he said VAR is shit after the 2nd leg at the Etihad. i sincerely hope that Spurs can take the game to Liverpool like they came at us.

i think that Poch and his boys, as well as the Spurs fans, deserve it more, especially in the face of how the dippers and the media have reacted to City's triumphant season. Hopefully Son and Kane can take the game to them, and force Liverpool to continue their poor away record in the CL.

i just hope that the Madrid police are ready for the worse fans in football history to kick off after the match, or maybe even before - whether they win or lose.

Forest board was well known to be bent right through Clough’s tenure, Reacher did some jail time. Clough was well known to like a bung, and when he was at a Derby buckets of cash went missing from ticket sales.
At Leeds Revie paid opposition managers to take it easy in crucial games.
The romantic good old days.

Brian Clough is still the best manager this country has ever produced, IMHO.

And I mean the UK, not just England.

Despite Don Revie being a former City player, I have absolutely no time at all for him after he employed such shithouse tactics at dirty Leeds.

He was a complete twat!

Yeah it is a bit shit, but that's what happens when decent teams deliberately get knocked out to concentrate on the league and then still don't win it.
I still laugh that they thought they were being clever,it was the 2 warm weather breaks that threw them off track, winning the Carabo spurs you on to dig deep and go for the rest

From the second vid there's about 3 Liverpool accents to be found(so you don't do plastic flags like most clubs do these days as this years CL should have shown you.... but you've got plastic fans in abundance la), the first one wades in with racism towards Spanish people showing that old famous trait Liverpool fans have... the worst losers in world football. They can't help but reinforce everything we say they are, every time they regain an ounce of the relevancy they used to have.

All clubs try and set up to win things, they want the best of everything and have always been more than willing to buy it, the history books show this.

When this is argued they always default to the same argument "but those clubs earned what they spent" Did they from the beginning though? Or did it all start with investment and then they started earning it? City are earning what they spend as of today and have been for years. The FFP investigation itself isn't even about that because City are well worth every penny of the Etihad deal, UEFA said so themselves years ago.

These people, these journos don't want a discussion, they want an echo chamber, which is why we should just respond in kind and not listen to a word they say. Instead we should do what they have done so far, talk over them, call them rats, call them irrelevant... give them some of their own medicine. Our press in particular are becoming increasingly entitled and scarily snowflake like, when they don't get their own way or receive a hint of criticism themselves, it's pathetic.

Or just hack the twats back to the Paper Age.

It depends what is meant by "earned" too.
If someone sponsors you, is that "earned"? If so, does it matter what the motives of the sponsor are? If not, then much of the other teams' income is "unearned".
If someone invests in a company is that somehow "unearned"? Or is it "earned" by the person believing the company will become more valuable over time and taking a punt? There is no doubt that City is a company is many times more valuable than it was in 2008.
Was the money (for example) United received when they became a PLC "earned" or "unearned"?
Much of this debate is just self-serving bollocks motivated by pure jealousy.
