Liverpool are impossible to assess because they rely so much on Salah and no one knows how is game is going to progress.

If he recovers, then they can go up another level, but if not then I can't see them maintaining a challenge. Yes they are on the same points as us, and have had a very difficult run of fixtures but the quality of their game has not been as good as last season.

I don't know how bad his injury is. They will have wanted him to play Huddersfield and Cardiff as it represents an opportunity for him to score goals and get him back to speed.

I haven't looked at the stats km run, sprints etc but my impression is that LFC are now the Klopp unit of midfield power and athleticism but with ordinary Salah I think they lack the goals to win the title. His game will be key to where the title goes although if City reproduce last season's form then it's irrelevant anyway.

Psychologically I think we struck a blow against them last week.

Salah is one issue for them but Keita and Fabinho are two players that have added close to zero so far this season and they don't look like improving anytime soon..

I think Mourinho might have been right about him.
I don’t think he has the mentality for the big games.everytime a big game comes up, he seems to go off injured. It doesn’t seem to make sense, as he starts the game full of desire and the next thing, he’s holding his leg, shoulder, looking to come off.
Champions league final and he wants to come off, I’ve never seen Spanish Dave ask to come off and he has been kicked black and blue. Just a nagging thought I have.
If nothing else, you’ve got to think it’s strange.

I'm not sure getting injured means you don't have a mentality for a big match. If you're injured, then you're injured. That's different than the flat track bullies who wet the bed when they face the pressure in big matches.

Having said that, he's struggled badly this season, so far. If he doesn't regain even half the form that he had last season, I don't see them sustaining their title challenge

I was talking exaggerating an injury.
Seems too much of a coincidence for me.
Of course, he may of been injured but if Spanish Dave did that, he would never play more than 10 minutes in any game.

Observer Sport have got some stat tables on the km run, and sprint by teams and players

You might be surprised to learn that Arsenal are top of km run and also sprints.

Liverpool have the 2nd most sprints.

Jorginho and Kante best individuals in respect of km run

City were in top 3 for sprints, 3rd I think, but half way down in terms of km run which surprises me as last season I think we topped these tables.

Maybe we are letting the ball do the work.

If Dick Van Dyke sustains an injury, then they will be back to keystone cops defending. He is as important to them now as Kompany was to us. But nowadays we aren't reliant on Vinnie. And top quality squad depth is the main difference between us n' them. They were lucky with injuries last season, this season they probably won't be as lucky.

Time to order a new batch of PEDs.

It’s a little disrespectful comparing that Dick to the real Dick. Mary Poppins!!! What a film :)

Liverpool struggled against the top teams last season. They had a massive improvement against teams that parked the bus. Maybe you are referring to two seasons ago? Liverpool's ability to break down teams that defend low, has steadily improved over time both statistically (chances, shots in box, goals, goals conceeded) and points earned. 12 more points last season than the season before.

Sounds like horse shit to me. I don't see them having a good CL or a good league title tilt this season, they're already knackered and have yet to bed in new players (that'll be their downfall this season), next season however...
