We must also remember that half our team did not play today. Laporte, Aguero, Ederson, Mahrez, Fernandinho and Mendy.

Salah is a colossal player.

Don’t make yourself look daft mate.

colossal? I am the the one looking daft? Google his performances - 1 great season 17/18 played 52 scored 44 - 18/19 played 52 scored 27 - don't believe the hype

His finishing was poor. You can't argue with that
Yeah, not arguing with that. Could/should’ve have a hattrick on another day, but it was his first start of pre-season so some rustiness was inevitable. To call him “average” is patently ridiculous though.

But didn't and thats the point - a great player finishes those chances and average player doesn't.
Don't think it's as black and white as that though, we've seen Sterling and even Sergio miss absolute sitters. Salah has scored 71 goals in the last two seasons and it's not as if they were all tap ins, he's scored some ridiculous goals. He's a world class player.

Pound to a penny he will not score 27 this season. He is reverting to type. Like Coutinho they should have cashed in ( which is the point I was making ) during his purple patch - will Klopp makie him a better player? A 44 goal a season striker again?

44 goals was an incredible return, and one that he probably won’t ever repeat again. Decent chance he could top 27 this season though. Regardless, it’s hard to take you seriously if you’re calling him average. No shame in admitting the qualities of other players. Seems a bit petty to downplay his obvious ability.

You have to get into the position to score which he has but aside from one season he hasn't shown consistency of the like he did in one purple patch of a season but google Kun and aside from one injury hit season there is a consistency there and with Raheem there is a progression that has come in following Pep's coaching. Salah went backward. He may score some more this season but up and down is neither consistency nor progression.

I am not downplaying his ability I am saying that he hit a peak that Liverpool failed to cash in on when Real were sniffing and that he will fade back into the pack - look at last season where he got off to a poor start and their opening run of fixtures this season. I suspect he will be @ 18 - 22 goals this season ( unless he learns to look up and pass then he may be more valuable to them ) but I don't see Klopp nor his style of play making him better - take the last 3 seasons and his goals per game ratio is poorer than Aguero's yet FIFA recognise him in their player of the season poll ???

Of course you’re allowed an opinion, but you have to accept being pulled up for it when it’s obviously nonsense.

which is simply your opinion which I will not belittle and so we have to agree to disagree

Salah will get 30 this season, he may not have a season again like the one a couple of years ago, but their whole method of playing is perfectly set up for him. He’s a top player and fucking dangerous every time he gets the ball.

Aguero or Salah? I know who I'd prefer if you had to select one of the two.

I know that doesn't make Salah to be average, but I do question his all round ability as a team player.

He has undoubtedly had his purple patch, let's see how he fares this season, because if he gets the 18-20 mark I would categorise him as above average but no better than that.

I don't agree. Against us they up their game: in fact, beating us is akin to actually winning a trophy to them. Yes, they had a very good season just gone, but I can't see them doing it again. They had a phenomenal run of good fortune, no real injury issues, many many favourable refereeing decisions, and they played far fewer games than us.

Klipperty will fail in his quest for the Prem (once again thwarted by Pep), then he'll be off to pastures new. He won't be there by the end of next season, I'm convinced of it.
Notwithstanding the fact they were knocked out of the Caribou and FA cups at the first opportunity. I think we played around 8-10 games more than them last season.

The smash and grab specialists look like they'll be right up there again this season.
