He's quite right; the terrible spectacle of a team of champions crashing to earth in such comprehensive fashion must take an enormous toll on the will to keep going - for both players and fans alike.
And of course about the painful reality that it makes not a spot of difference to how anyone else feels.
Owning your situation and the fact that it is largely the result of the choices you make, is of course the best way to get things back on track, and I'm sure would be the starting point for any team worthy of contending again.
