It was the same type of contact for the Mane penalty and the tackle on Raz.
It wasn't.

Jota tries to take Sterling out, outside of the box. Sterling tried to keep the move going, but stumbled and lost the ball. The correct action here from the referee should have been to play on, but as advantage didn't accrue, go back for the free kick to City, cautioning Jota.

This isn't the same for Walker, who tried to pull out of the challenge but brushed Mane's leg. That contact did not cause Mane to fall. Mane fell of his own volition - dived, in other words.

If that is a foul, then every single contact anywhere on the pitch is a foul. Should defenders start going to ground whenever an attacker lays a hand on them? It would be no different.

This behaviour is a blight on the game. It is clear that certain teams are coached on how to win penalties (Liverpool, United and Leicester to name three). This needs to be stamped out and condemned, because it is spoiling the game for fans of every other club. Instead, everyone in the media tolerates it, and for that, they are just as culpable in killing the game.

Thats what I meant ;)

I know it is a while back but can any one highlight the foul on Micah in the sick swan, and the stupid hand signals by Clattenberg immediately after. Pontious Pilate mark two.

Whatever you think you mean mate, divine countenance etc. You can forget it, it's been raining and the sun shone whilst it pissed down. View attachment 5240
And a selection of their comments. They are special indeed...... In fact they probably have a certificate from some educational centre to prove it

I'll leave you to read the rest of the comments.

The thing that really pissies me off is that I am all for playing the advantage and encouraging players to stay on their feet ,but surely the rule is ,if there is no obvious advantage played by carring on then it is supposed to be brought back to the original offence ,I.e.free kick to City on the edge of the box ,but they fu**kin
Played on !
I foolishly thought that this was the new VAR ruling when they do not look at the original offence until the ball has gone dead??
Foolish me!

game is bent

too many instances of these type of decisions in big games not to disprove this ?

just like last year at Anfield the rats have got away with it in a pivotal match against us ,which as we all know will go on to shape the season

I give up !
Strange innit. Both incidents led to goals 30 seconds later too.

Spot on. The contact on Raheem was far more forceful that that on Mane. Difference was that one tried to stay up whilst the other couldn't wait to fall. In fact if you look at Mane's movement when he picked the ball up it wasn't directly towards goal it was more towards Kyle. Question has to be asked though why did Pawson not think it a foul on Raheem? If he tried to play advantage then fair enough but no advantage occurred so it surely needs bringing back. Maybe Pawson should spend time watching rugby and how they implement the advantage...

Pawson had a truly awful game.

Is this not the "Shrine" they banned Shankley from?
I was so tempted to post a reply on LinkdIn of all places this morning.

Somebody wrote "If I zoom in, is that Shankly and Paisley at either ends of the rainbow?"

I was tempted to reply - "Unlikely, Shankly was banned from the place."

I didn't because they're such a cult that there'll always be a few oddballs who will go out of their way to cause trouble for you.

Even Carragher thought it was a foul.
