It’s now similar to us missing stones and Laporte for last season. They’ll have Fabinho and Matip (Fernandinho and Otamendi) as their two cb’s with the kids in the Garcia role. As I said earlier don’t think they’ll suffer as much as we did. What’s going to be interesting is how he manages the fit cb’s. They can’t play every game. He’ll be lobbying for the 5 subs rule harder than ever now to try and bring them off as much as possible. With Thiago and ox injured and Henderson having an injury riddled period it could stretch their midfield too.

Wish the player himself a speedy recovery, but wish much more misery upon Liverpool as a club,, they deserve so much more.

I don't rate Gomez that highly to be honest. I think it's a bigger blow to their midfield as now they'll have to put Fabinho next to Matip which might actually be a better partnership than Gomez/Matip but taking Fabinho out of their midfield weakens it significantly.

IMO the biggest issue is that the other players are going to have to play a lot more now, which makes them more likely to be injured.

Fabinho dropping to CB for example now means you can't rest Thiago very often, so he might get injured, and then before you know it Henderson has played 30 games in a row and he can barely get through 90 so his form drops off a cliff.

Gomez had been their 1st choice with Van Dijk for a while. In Liverpool's system he complements him nicely.

He's not really a CB though as far as I'm concerned so without Van Dijk next to him he dips (pun intended) big time.
i've always thought he was bang average tbh

Yep it's the knock-on effect more than anything, their squad is going to be stretched to the limits. The only downside is they might bring in a top CB in January which they probably already needed before the injuries.

Their cycle is over. Klopp has run the players into the ground.

Everyone here was expecting this.

Personally I thought it would have happened last season but somehow they managed to survive 3 seasons playing virtually the same 11 every game. Yes they threw the domestic cups to play less games but none the less 3 seasons without significant 2 month+ injuries was incredibly lucky even more so considering their “heavy metal” football.

I can’t see them winning anything significant this season.

Welcome to our world, dippers.
Yes you're right but as we've found out in the past, getting a really good CB for the PL can be easier said than done. Even buying a supposedly top CB doesn't guarantee he'll be a success. For example we spent a lot of money on Stones & Mangala but neither of them were the answer to the problem. Likewise Otamendi (apart from one season). The Rags have also had similar issues in this department in recent years but of course they don't seem to get highlighted in the media. As you say the dippers will now be stretched to the limit so we'll see how good they really are.

Didn't the exact same thing happen in Dortmund? Going from challenging for the league, to completely run into the ground and Klopp resigning by the end of the season.
