Very sad news for VVD and I wish him a speedy recovery but as posters have pointed out, ACL recovery is lengthy and complex.

Whilst it wasn't malicious, Pickford needs to give his head a wobble, absolute loose cannon at the moment. He weirdly had a good game for the rest of that match.

It is nice to see many blues wishing him well, that's the difference between our fans and theirs. We have class. I remember when Sane was injured and the Echoe ran an article how the injury would benefit the dippers and plenty of the vermin were cheering KDB's injury.

I have nothing against VVD, seems like a decent bloke and what he has done for them can't be underestimated (and I despise Liverpool). From a City point of view this is of cause good news, but would not wish injuries to anyone. Hope you get a speedy recovery mate.

True. Anybody got a gif of them cheering when Yaya limped off injured against them in 2014? That said, you're absolutely right, there's no reason why we should take them as an example.
Personally, I'm not celebrating VVD's injury, nor am I weeping any tears over it. These things happen and they are part of the game. The guy is going to limp for a while before getting back to training and his trade. His life wasn't threatened.
Living in a country where a secondary school teacher has just been beheaded, outside his school, for teaching, puts some perspective on this kind of thing, I think.

It's sport, it happens, it happens all the time, practically every game someone gets injured.
Anyone would think there's never been an injured player before judging by the media stance on this ffs.
The recent and constant glorification of Liverpool gets through into the subconscious of neutrals and even City fans and this injury is thought of the worst evah. This means more obviously.
Schadenfreude sums it up for me particularly when looking at the clip above when he does an ankle breaker following through but has the presence of mind to turn his head away from anu potential contact from recalling player.

Another annoyance is that the media will be all over this injury and the impact to Liverpool. I don't remember the media attention towards the LT injuries to our players.

Laporte
Aguero
KDB
Mendy
Sane
Jesus

Do I wish serious personal injury to VVD? No. Do I wish Liverpool to be without a key player for a large portion of the season? Abso-fucking-lutely. We had Laporte and sane out for virtually all of last season, and kdb for the majority the season before that and Mendy our since we signed him, let’s see how they cope with just one key player injured long term.
If it wasn't for the extended season neither Laporte nor Sane would have played for the rest of a normal season. They still weren't 100% fit with Laporte being carefully eased back and Sane only making one sub appearance. VVD is out for the season.

Don't forget they have Alinson out till mid Nov aswell. Shame.

I don't understand why so many non-LFC fans, including a number of Blues on Twitter being upset with those mocking Van Dijk's injury. While several others are posting 'get well soon' messages. Like this from one of the very small number of City accounts I dislike (I only ever come across their messages when others retweet):

Why do people do this? Is it because they think it protects us from some hex or voodoo?

He's hurt his bloody knee. Not suffered ill health, lost someone important or is now unable to support his family. I could understand it if it was a player from the team you support or a player who has had bad luck and deserves a break. Some people are desperate to be loved, just as some enjoy being offended.

It’s because it’s so ‘classy’. It’s not though, just fucking sad. There’s no outpouring of emotion when Billy Bobkins playing for Dundee breaks his leg. This is just saddos pandering to Candlepool fans.
