Liverpool thread 2020/21

The important thing this season is that this form started last season, with the defeat in the CL and just before lockdown showing some potential wider problems that have come to the fore now. Their points per game after lockdown was 1.89 and is 1.81 now, so if they want to get close to closing the gap they'll need an incredible collapse from not just us but the other top three teams plus a run of form they've not had for over a year. The feeling at the time was they'd taken their foot off the gas because they'd won, but there were also loads of warning signs for the new season. And it does raise questions as to how they're going to turn that form around given this is now a longer term problem: Salah is on his way out, Firmino looks done, Thiago looks like he slows them down and needs a different team around him to do his best work, VVD is out for the rest of the season (and who knows whether he'll get back to where he was), and the two young wingbacks, as good as they've been, look shattered. They need a rebuild, and is there the money for that? Has Klopp got the energy for it? Have the rest of the players?

From what we've seen so far its the one's in the bottom half of the table they need to worry sbout
Possibly but we seem to be sweeping them aside now.

You have to think if we win our next three, there’s a fair chance the others will drop points in that time, especially Liverpool and then I can’t see us throwing it away from there.

Obviously it’s a big if starting on Sunday.

Let’s hope we finally do it.

"Injuries. We lost Allison, VVD, Matip, Gomez, Jota, Mane etc..

Take Ederson, Dias, Laporte, Stones, Rodri, Gundogan, Sterling & Jesus out of City's side & they drop points..no doubt.
Any other side suffers what we have this year & they're mid table at best."

Best XI
Steffen, Walker, Garcia, Ake, Cancelo, Fern, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Foden, Aguero.

I still fancy us to give the league a good go.

In there heads in there heads.
"Of course, every team is exposed to that struggle. But Liverpool, more than any other inthe Premier League, rely on their strong emotional connection to help dig them out of holes such as the one they put themselves in when conceding Steven Alzate’s 56th-minute goal."

It's sickening isn't it. No matter how much you love your club, it means nothing unless that love is for Liverpool F fucking C.

Embarrassing

RAWK....

Worth remembering that we were without Alisson, Matip, VVD, Gomez, Keita, Fabinho, Mane and Jota tonight.

8 players who would have started.

Put your anger in a little perspective folks.

Steffen, Walker, Ake, Garcia, Zinchenko, DeBruyne, Foden, Aguero would be able to come in & get the job done lol.

Take the supporters out and, over time, matchday at Anfield becomes what it is now – just another game played out in the cold and silence of a cavernous concrete stadium.

These aren’t excuses. They are pure, unadulterated facts.

sorry didn’t see you’d come to the same conclusion ;)

They could drop points in any of those.

Of course we have Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal too coming up.

Genuinely think if we get 9 points from those three the league is ours.
True, ours is a tough run too(West Ham and the United after them too so it's 5 tough games) but we're in good form, my main concern is burnout. Don't lots of teams start feeling it around Feb even on a normal season or am I imagining it?

which is why Klopp's relentless reliance on the same group of 12 or 13 asthmatics reliant on "inhalers" year in year out has caught up with them - we will be fine our pond is stocked with more and better quality fish hence Pep can rotate - we started with what? 5 changes tonight?
