Ah right, that must make it true then. Well in, Rumpole, case closed.
Do you know anything about football drug testing and how it works? What do you think they find most often?
Long acting ventolin is a wonderful thing as are inhaled steroids, allows you to run about for ages

If our club was accused of that our chairman would be straight on it

I’m not doubting that Sancho was hasty to scarper but could the club have given him more opportunities to do well? Great point about Foden, in total agreement, but they could have done the same with him and saved themselves all manner of cash? Of course there’ll be other factors we cant possibly quantify however they must be fuming to see how he’s eventually panned out. Incredible talent and would have been brilliant in your system.
As regards Sancho it was a shame that he didn’t have the mentality to stick it out, but that attitude would have been an issue sooner it later and for that reason and that reason only we will never have him back. The money issue is a mixed one, it will certainly cost to develop/buy an alternative but there is a sell on fee.

Or like another team geographically close to us, we had three splendid years then suffered a big drop off in levels. That’s just the nature of top level football. But on the subject of supplements etc, every single elite club in the world uses them to as far as the law lets them. The margins are so fine that every little advantage will be eked out.
Question; do you believe that Man City players take nothing in the way of supplements or anything like that?
Some great quotes from that article you cited:

“According to a source close to the club, of 35 players 22 are asthmatic – 63% of the squad, over five times higher than the 12% UK average.”

and:

“Liverpool cannot win this season because physically, scientifically and morally they cannot. They cannot overdose again on caffeine because of the side-effects. They cannot keep up the pace with other substances and painkillers because the amounts needed to win the league would cause a slew of injuries.”

You say the article is a load of rubbish and that is a very easy to say but if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it’s a duck!

As regards “supplements” and our team if we have taken anything wrong we haven’t done it very well. We play a slow buildup, don’t engage in overly physical challenges and still get injuries!

How do you know that your players aren’t taking them? Here’s the answer, you don’t know unless you’ve got an in to the training ground.
And why on earth would any professional club entertain some sad little bedroom virgin that has zero quantifiable evidence? If you knew anything about the testing process, it’s almost impossible to get away with it. That’s what clubs devote their energies to stretching those regulations as far as they go.
Have a nice evening.
You are starting to get a bit obnoxious again. Do you honestly think it is almost impossible to get away with it? If that was the case athletes would never try it and they clearly do, you only know of those caught (or nearly caught in Rio Ferdinand’s case!)

Like I said before if it looks dodgy in all ways it is.

I could write exactly the same article about City and it would have the same legal or literate weight - the square root of fuck all. There is nothing in that article that has any form of tangible reference. Lines like ‘According to a source close to the club’ could come out of any given day or indeed hour on SSN. Journos use that sort of bollocks because it boosts a story and is completely unprovable.
On the supplements front, you’ve spent three years or so achieving on the highest plains. Perhaps that’s where they benefitted you? Or maybe neither team has taken illegal drugs and it’s just that they’re two brilliant football teams that are across the way* from each other. I know which I think is more likely.

I didn’t take anybody from City. You’re conflating my supposed views with LFC recruitment policy. I have no idea why we took him, perhaps we thought we could make something of him. Obviously that hasn’t panned out. Now your second sentence I can get behind. If I’m honest here, I expected one of the youth full backs to be able to step up. It’s been a problem area that’s had eye watering money committed to it but not once did a young full back look Iikely to bridge that gap. That’s not his fault but it seemed madness to spend that sort of money without having any kind of organic resource. Again, I’m not arsed about the money, spend what you want, but it just seems madness that there was nobody even half ready over a sustained period.
This is one of the reasons why I believe you get so much flak on here. Your condescending tone. Well, that and your blatant bullshit such as claiming that Sunday was an even game.

You know full well that when TonyColemans writes “you”, he’s referring to Liverpool but you have to be a clever **** and state that you didn’t take anyone from City.

You seem to ignoring the very different ways our clubs have risen to the “highest plains”. Man City slow buildup play, skilful control of the ball and diction of play in the final third; Liverpool high octave, pacey pressing game with long balls and continuous running. Which way needs drugs?

Do you think that Real Madrid look like they’ve been juicing their players? Look at the size of the cunts, they’re massive. Now think how many times they get tested a year. That says to me that they’re doing everything they can to stretch the regulations because on the face of it, something is going on. And if they’re doing it, you can bet every other elite club is bang at it in some way or other, both our clubs included. My own take is that all the club doctors and health professionals are expert at regulation blurring. But that’s the modern game.

It‘s difficult I know but just ignore the WUM. The only drug he knows is Calpol.

Your scouts are also experts in regulation blurring or cheating to call it correctly.

By your logic here, every single position on the pitch should be immediately interchangeable for each member of the squad. If you think that footballers can just adapt to new positions with different needs and skill sets just because they’re first teamers, I’d say it might be a little sinking in that’s needed at your side. If football was as fluid and linear as that, everybody could be a manager. But do you even realise the difference between playing centre mid and centre half? They’re the two hardest positions on the pitch to play and whilst they’re often close to each other, their roles are markedly different. To expect seamless transition at this level is madness.
I’d have replied earlier but I’ve been up the wall with work.
Been nicking lead off the roof again.
