It seems a bit strange this injury. On one hand he wants to be fit for next season, but which international player turns down his country in a major final. More often than not they wait till the last minute to decide.
Or His recuperation isn't going to plan.

Yeah it’s a strange one, and he always struck me as a guy who values his national side. So suspect it’s the latter and he’s not quite ready?

Probably the first 30 seconds or so. The dismissive laugh when the interviewer muses on the possibility of the "this means more" mob can dominate for years to come. That would have got the cultists' backs up.
