I suppose with the passing of time the standards of certain players rise when we look at then through red tinted (blue tinted glasses (or any other kind)). We can also forget how good some players were simply because they played before football became a rich mans plaything (OK I admit and know fully about the Moores family....jeez, I have to be so careful and put my own caveats into anything...lol) and a global business.
Carragher didnt stop playing that many years ago and has kept his profile high through his meeeja work which has maybe added a gloss to his playing career (waiting for the response to that comment!). However, I was never the biggest fan of Carragher thinking he was just a very average CB, one of a long line that we have had since the likes of Hansen & Lawrenson.
So, even with my own red tinted specs on, I really did laugh when Carragher even put himself in the same ballpark (fenway maybe) as Dias.
Me thinks Caraghers ego and media work has given him his own false recollection of the standard he payed to. Either that, or as is probably more likely, he cannot quite bring himslef to admit when a City player, who cost less, is as good or possibly better than his own (our own) VVD.
Then again it could all be media click bait bullshit.
