I get people saying that if we diminish and disrespect what the dippers have achieved, we also diminish our own achievements. There's no doubt that the challenge of livarpoo has forced us to raise our own game and not become complacent.
For their part, the dips are an extremely effective team, but comparing their football to ours is comparing McDonald's to a Michelin starred restaurant. Their midfield in particular exerts precious little control in their games, but their forwards do tend to bury their chances. Paradoxically this makes their games more exciting as there are more mistakes and potentially more excitement than our metronomic strangling of games.
However I find it extremely distasteful the way they physically target players, systematically foul with impunity and generally show contempt for their opponents, Robertson finding it hilarious to push opponents into the hoardings, fake hardman that he is.
Then there's the decisions they get on a regular basis. We may all have confirmation bias, but fans of literally every other team notice it too.
Their fans ain't great and seem to have a larger proportion of maladjusted thugs than even the other red arse cheeks. These bestest fans have a great many theories why we're successful, all based on cheating, doping - financial or chemical, paying off CAS, pigmol, uefa and the rest. Perhaps having had experience of some of these behaviours, they just assume we must do the same.
Klopp isn't a particularly likeable individual but he's a decent manager and likely to be our main rival whilst here. 3 CL finals is nothing to sniff at, but his domestic record is ordinary. Perhaps next season they'll decide to compete in all competitions, that will spur us on,I hope to finally secure the CL. But to them I'd say respect is a two way street, you have to earn it in order to receive it. A proportion of the graceless knuckle draggers who follow you do you no favours, even if the media are terrified of offending you by reporting on some of your unsavoury support.
