Because they thought they had the champs league already in the bag.

They were talking like the had won the league in late March. They had to come to our place and win which they couldn’t. They disrespectfully thought the champions would crumble and hand them the trophy, Instead City went up another gear and broke them.
 
Merseyside Police said its officers who were deployed in Paris and attended the match "reported the vast majority of fans behaved in an exemplary manner, arriving at turnstiles early and queuing as directed".

"Our officers returning today will conduct a formal debrief to ensure that we can fully support any subsequent investigation following last night's game," said assistant Chief Constable Chris Green.

This is from the same police force who watched our bus get wrecked. the sheer level of hypocrisy is mind blowing.
