If FFP had been around in the late 1950s Liverpool would have failed it by a mile in their quest to get promoted from the Second Division and then win then First Division and FA Cup. Then they would have failed it again in their quest to embark on the biggest trophy haul in English football history through the 1970s and 80s.

United’s success in the 1960s was off the back of Louis Edwards’ selling condemned meat to schools. Then their success in the 90s was off the back of expenditure on the team that would have failed FFP in the 1980s had it been around then.

Arsenal’s chairman actually did step down under a cloud due to irregularities in finances to finance their success in the 1920s and 30s.
Football and money, Billy Merridith tbf..one of ours..dirty habits...since football became professional there has alwats been murky goings on. Can't condone it but the nedia are pretending we were the first to buy anyone. Ridiculous...

Indeed, indeed.. good post.

It was ever thus throughout the history of the game, whether here in England or in any other country.. as Dylan put it, 'Money doesn't talk, it swears..'

The latest English manifestation has been the accretion of money and power since 1992 by The Red Filth, The Scouse Red Filth and The Tarquins, having left Everton and Spurs of the original 'Big Five' in their trail. This has only been affected by the arrival of first Chelsea and then City on the scene to challenge the privileges that hegemony had enjoyed for such a long time.

Btw, your 'landed gentry' example at the end of your post reminded me of the old Bernard Manning story about him being challenged by some 'hooray Henry' herbert to 'get off his land' when Bernard was walking in the countryside. Manning asked how he came to own the land and the herbert described generations of his forefathers fighting battles for rewards which included the very land they were standing on. 'Okay..' says Bernard 'I'll fight you for it..'

Which is precisely what City and Chelsea have done, pretty successfully too! And as we all know, those three hateful clubs and their followers who've had it all their own way for decades don't like it one little bit.

F**k 'em.
Fu*k 'em = perfect riposte.

Thiago out for 6 weeks is a big blow for them. Their midfield is their worst area. They start Henderson who isn't the best and have a 36 year old for back up.
We need to make sure we rack up points ..put pressure on them. They are one very side as are we ..any opportunity to exploit we must take it. Spurs. Chelsea Arsenal Us and Liverpool will dropa fair few and beat each other a bit this seaskn i think.

A quick look at RAWK and it's the same deal as it has been for many years now, burning with avarice, it'll be all the sweeter this season when we fuck them all ends up.
