Football transfer fee inflation has gone up even more than ordinary inflation.

Strangely, this is because there is far more money than there used to be in football in real terms and because teams like Brighton (for example) although relatively 'small', have plenty of cash and don't have to sell players to survive, as many clubs did in the past.

Bury FC lived for years on transfer fees paid by, among others, City and Redscouse. But Colin Bell cost £45,000. You'd probably be paying at least £60 million now for a similar player, maybe more, if such a player was to be found in the lower leagues. Francis Lee was only 60k and that was seen as the last bit of the jigsaw, but also as a very large fee. Again, you'd pay an absolute fortune for a young Francis Lee in 2023. (Unless he came from Argentina.)

correct. I know more about red Scouse than any plastic analfied prick.
They don't like it when you quote Facts.
Fuck Liverpool, Europa league wannabes.
Irrelevant nowadays.

Clemence.from Scunthorpe
Neal from Northampton
Kennedy..from Newcastle
Thompson from Bolton
Hansen from Patrick thistle
Ray Kennedy ( Rip ) from Arsenal
Ray hougton- Oxford
McDermott from Newcastle
Souness from Middlesbrough
Keegan / Dalglish from scunthorpe/ Celtic
Ian rush- Chester City
Nunez- The Blind School

No money spent there..All dyed in the wool home grown Scouse t###s.

And while I'm at it,.....where are all the red Scouse posters that used to live on BM?
Where are you ?
The annoying thing was that Ian Rush was recommended to City before he went to Liverpool by the Chester City manager Alan Oakes.

Perhaps our management were prescient and knew what a twat he would become later in life and judged that he was just not worth the hassle;-)

Although my memory of the time suggests that they just were not very competent

at time if i remember right it was big gamble to us but to littlewoods pools money was no object if failed

I wonder which club those charming and knowledgeable Dipper fans will be rooting for tomorrow ?
They would hate either side to win and it must be the worst possible final for them.
Having said that they don’t care about us so they they must be in our camp Shirley :-)

Well I for one will be supporting City...after all you have no fans or 'istree la...
I can see the headline now..."Support from 'Pool fans helps win City the Treble"
I am one of those sad old fans ...ABU

Liverpool have spent lots off money on new players nearly as much as us. Van Dijk, Allison and Nunez didn't come cheap. It's simple in football. You have to spend money to get success.
Shhhhh...you are fogetting net spend and "The Coutinho Money" . The Coutinho money was even accounted for years in advance and was used to subsidise the Dalglish transfer.

So its going to be sharpish home from work tomorrow and wishing City good luck

They probably thought that Barney Daniels was a better option.

You are higher than us in net spend now also. Even that accolade is long gone. You really are history specialists

I was working at Lime st station the other week and chatting to a LFC supporter who said “I hope you win the treble, as I’m sick and tired of utd claiming it"
The guy was very mature, not one of the feral nobheads
