European Cup was 32 team, 9 game knockout competition when they won the treble. They had to beat 4 teams home and away to get to the final, where they won on penalties after it finished 1-1 after extra time.

They still won those trophies. Celtic, Ajax and Feyenoord’s quadruple and trebles don’t mean any less because they did them before it was the CL either.

We beat Liverpool on penalties after it finished 1-1 after extra time in the EFL Cup in 2016, doesn’t mean it doesn’t really count because we didn’t smash em 3-0.
