It doesn't take a lot for proclamations of biggest challengers to emerge, especially when the press and TV are filled with former players desperate to eulogise in salute of a second coming. It is this absolute sycophancy that makes me yearn for a slow and painful deterioration of their team, and the dawning realisation of another failure.

We've spanked them a few times now. Yet the narrative continues that they are the all American heros fighting the evil Arabs.

Worrying thing from the Weekend is how easily Van Dyke was outfoxed by Bowen's header. And he looked shaky throughout. It is clear that he is on the slide.

Upfront, the fire power is there to blow most teams away and if it doesn't work, throw on Jota and he will present a different problem.

The jury is still out on the midfield recruits, but Macalister was a steal for 35m.

The spine is there to do well this season.
Agree, they have a very good team this year
That's what spending a fortune gets - we all know that - just that they pretend their buys were all bargain £5m finds!!!
