Liverpool Thread | 2024/25

Ooops, the goalposts seem to have moved again!

Has he rebuilt a team? That's what you asked, now it appears to be "has he rebuilt HIS team", but once he does that you'll have some other slightly tweaked question.

Not a truly great team until you've won the Premier League, errrr, ok then, not a great team until you've won a double, errrrr, ok then, not agreat team until you've won it back to bak, errrrr, ok then, not a great team until you've won the Champions league ...etc...etc...etc ad infinitum

Stop listening, believing and regurgitating the shit that SKY propaganda merchants like Spit feed you.

WUM

Have you got anger issues as well or do you just think he's another dipper **** on the wind up like me?

Pardon me, but it's still another dumb take.

How far should a 'rebuild' go for it be considered a 'rebuild'? When was the last true 'rebuild' from anyone, based upon that metric?

Also, why would you purposely 'rebuild' when a team is fit for purpose? I can use your team in that example. Whiskey Nose built a team and kept the baseline of that team for years, no different to what Guardiola has done.

And Whiskey Nose stole from other youth teams around the nation (not just building from local lads who were fans of the team) to get that 'rebuild' setting the precedence we know today.
I class a rebuild as filling a squad with at least 80% of your own signings. Then once that team has run its course changing up it up again with probably 80% new faces and doing the business again.

What’s your problem mate? I have been nothing but respectful to your club while I have been on here. I can see why there are so few opposition fans on this forum. People like yourself make it a completely inhospitable environment. Can’t even have a genuine discussion because your exaggerated tribalism won’t allow it.
Unlike RAWK we allow opposition fans on here as long as they are sensible and have a thick skin. Several are and are good posters.

As for tribalism, first thing you did was join here as an imposter calling yourself Bridgeno2. Your first two posts you quoted him to try and attack him. Hardly respectful there was you?

I’ll be fascinated to see the new team he builds once the likes of KDB, Bernardo, Gundogan, Stones, Walker & Ederson leave. Will you still be as dominate as you once were when these were at their peak?

I’ll be fascinated to see the side you build when Salah, Virgil and AA leave. :)

And regardless, if they stay after winning the league then we all know you’ll phone the next season in just like you did the year after winning the league under Klopp.

You thought we would have a huge drop off after Klopp left to be fair. So not sure you really know what’s going to happen

That 4th placed team had multiple premier league title winning players including world class players such as Aguero, Silva, Toure & Kompany

When you say multiple it’s 2012,2014 titles so yes multiple but Contes Chelsea won 2 more recently with a star studded squad.
Toure was 34, Kompany was injury ravaged & played 11 games.

Ffs do a google search before talking shit.

So your personal criteria has to be met or it doesn't count as a rebuild? Now we're getting somewhere.

I don't know if you realise (it pretty much seems you don't) but Guardiola and management, for the most part, has looked at potential and outcasts and moulded them into his footballing philosophy, not just picked great footballers.

Great footballers are everywhere, great philosophies are not. You can take an average player with a good brain and make them better under an excellent philosophy. You can't take a dumb but excellent player and mould them via the same philosophy.

You can often see how players excelled under the Guardiola system for the first team when they've left City and don't produce after, as a general rule.

Did I?

Tbh, speaking from experience I wouldn’t judge a manager too much in their first season. Pellegrini won the league and Pep’s team underwhelmed. It’s year 2 and beyond where you find out how good they really are.

Probably important to point out that Liverpool have a habit of just giving it up some seasons after doing well in previous ones. A couple of years ago you were mid table and only made the Europa after a late surge. Maybe a mentality issue where you can’t do it year in year out like City have?

I'm sure Pep has done that but I'm not bothering to provide the evidence because by the time I do you will have moved the goal posts again to make your point seem relevant!
