Liverpool Thread | 2024/25

I believe foreign clubs can approach Premier League players in the last 6 months of their contract:

Am I wrong. Is the BBC wrong?

Why would an approach from Liverpool be turned down.

I appreciate they are merely aggregating, but it still seem a usual take.
It was a bid for a January transfer. They can offer him a contract in Jan, but he wouldn’t be able to join until summer unless a deal is agreed with the dippers.

Anyway, Southampton fans must be enjoying this.

Guardiola playing the victim and publicly seeking sympathy by referring to stress, sleep, not being sure what to do, and plenty of other excuses which you'd never see Jurgen or Arne doing in a million years.

This could be a defining season in so many ways - the world seeing how exciting the league can be when it's a level playing field.
Just a couple of obvious bounce backs here.

Jurgen would never make excuses lmfao. Too windy, wrong type of grass, lines too thick ad infinitum.
Yep really would be an exciting league with a level playing field as the Dippers walk away with the title unchallenged.
Social media is responsible for the great dumbing down of the human race.
The only fraud is the balloon who composed this from the comfort of his armchair in Bangkok.

Low key they've done exactly what we did under Pep at first and what we've moved away from, buying players a little under the radar for a decent but not headline making fee

Szoboszlai £60mil
Dias £49mil
Jota £45mil
Gakpo £45mil
Konate £35mil
Gravenberch £25mil

Kinda similar signings to
Rodri £62mil
Mahrez £60mil
Dias £60mil
Bernardo £45mil
Walker £45mil
Ederson £35mil

Unfortunately those kinda level transfers we've been getting it a bit wrong, like Nunes, Phillips, Doku (?) And we've gone for "higher profile" players like Haaland, Grealish, Gvardiol (his potential was high profile)

Think buying away from the Prem is a good idea, like Akanji or Alvarez more recently
I wouldn’t say Walker's transfer went under the radar. There was an almighty fuss about us spending so much money on a full-back, though as Kyle has proven, he was worth every penny.

To be fair, Klopp had a lot more need for excuses.

Not sure about the reception of TAA from many fellow LFC fans. TAA hasn't actually done or said anything, and he hasn't been a douche to any players or managers (Klopp or Slot). Madrid going to Madrid, it's on brand. It's not personal--perhaps I'm missing something because I'm not local, but then again, the online fanbases is mostly foreign, so....

We did the same to Zubimendi (who you lot might end up with), and then also it's on our suits, not on Trent. We should've wrapped up the extension OR sold him for 50-60M last summer--and had a succession plan ready, which usually Edwards is good at planning but he wasn't here for 1.5 years to be fair.

Sometimes we soccer fans over-romanticize things, but that said, club over player any day anyway, in terms of loyalty. Say one of us worked at our uncles neighborhood graphic designer mom & pop shop, and then Riot Games (producers of Arcane--a must watch) or Marvel Studios came calling with a gig and with more pay. Am I a traitor to my uncle and neighborhood for 'thinking about it'? It's all in the way you do it right? And I don't see that TAA has necessarily conducted himself in any abrasive or triggering way.

Anyway, I'm an older millenial myself but fans have become a bit to mobb-ish. We see the same thing every summer during the transfer window.

Liverpool fans have history of turning nasty on players when they dare to leave. Nasty in a way ive not really seen from other fan bases.
United did it when rooney had seemingly shook hands on joining us but that was right at the beginning of our revolution and i think half of it was disbelief.

The threats gerrard received are well documented , but forgetting that for a moment, the abuse sterling got was disgusting, probably racially motivated (liverpool as a city has history for that) and also bizarre.
His only crime was to join a club that he won lots more trophies with than he would have if he’d stayed at anfield.
Still booing him 7/8 years later was odd to say the least.

So dress it up all you wish, but ‘trent’ has a shit load of abuse coming his way of he dares to join madrid, but liverpool are fans like no others , and not in a good way.

It means more? In a very strange, cult like way, yes it does

The crazy thing is these stories are often planted by Real themselves either to see the lie of the land or to unsettle a player. If the primary source is Marca, doubt its veracity.
