Honestly, is there a more deluded and brainwashed fan base in the world?

They do it "the right way" though.
Not sure what the fuck that means as they haven't sold any players since Countinho and they spent that straight away on world record fees for a keeper and CH

They really are fucking delusional

How these guys finished the league last season suggests to me they don't have the elite mentality to be back to back champions.
They certainly take their foot off the gas when it is won. Hard to mock them considering they won the league but similar to last time especially. They could have pissed the 100 points record but didn't keep going for whatever reason. Contrast that to our 100 points season when it was won early doors and our mentality was elite. They are bringing in fresh, young blood which should keep their appetite high but hopefully we are there to compete this time.

How they performed for 95% of last season suggests to me they possibly can.
Ourselves arsenal Chelsea etc. need to put in a sustained challenge
I think our signings are going to improve us and should could bridge the gap but liverpool don't look any weaker than last season.

Really? They were the most consistent team in an awful league at the top end. Most of Klopp's teams would have finished well ahead of them in similar circumstances. You could also fit their injuries to key players on one page of a diary. The vast majority of PL champions don't retain their title, and they are far from one of the best.

I never said they were better than Klopps teams, just better than the opposition. The onus is on us and the other top teams to catch them. We look like we are making progress in our squad and I said that we should catch them.
Not sure if their acquisitions, including Wirtz, will make them any better but last season the league was won with 5 games to go.

If you and a friend are being chased by a lion, you don't need to outrun the lion, you just need to outrun your friend.

Making progress in our squad? Really?
Khusanov, Ait-Nouri, Bah, Reis, Reijnders, Cherki, Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Echeverri with more to follow quite possibly?
Being economical with the truth is a phrase that comes to mind.

It is progress but we had 6 of those in January.
Next season a lot of those may not be playing regularly with us.
I think the players going will be as significant as the players we buy in.

But the point is that if either us or Arsenal get back to where we were 2 years ago, Liverpool will need to be much better than last season to get near that. Let's not forget that one of out 'summer signings' will be the current Ballon d'Or holder. The point about the taking their foot off the gas is a valid one, I think, because it shows the mentality of a team that had nothing else to play for. It shows the mentality of a team that's already won the league, which is what they'll be next season.

Liverpool seem to be going for the right players and we'll see how they do. But personally, I trust Pep to get us playing back to the sort of football we have been doing in recent years, and if we do that, I can't see Liverpool competing with that no matter who they buy.

Absolutely not mocking them but it is one thing to win it once another entirely to have the motivation to do it again. You also go into games as champions so teams play differently against you. The season after they won it in 2019/20 they acquired 30 less points and finished behind United. Even in our worse season ever we got more points than Liverpool did in their season as Champions.

In our 4 year title sequence I think there was a 4 point difference in our total points across the 4 seasons. This is consistency no other team has matched. We scored two less points the season after we got 100.

I'm not saying Liverpool can't win it but just arguing that their end of last season is evidence that they don't have an elite mentality. There two most consistent seasons were 18/19 and 19/20 but once they won it they dropped level quite a lot

Very much agree, an exciting season ahead

No way these fuckers are going to scruff as many wins like last season.

In the bits of games I watched (MofTD and on in the pub) the opposition gifted them goal after goal.

An aging Van Dijk and Salah won't be able to perform at their peak in their mid 30s again.

Trent leaving them is a blow. He wasn't the best defensively but you have to admit he put some quality hoofed balls over the top for Salah. He couid also deliver a dangerous cross.

We fell away before Christmas and Arsenal bottled it as usual towards the end. And they still couldn't surpass 90 points with zero challenge.

Hopefully our rebuild gives us a new buzz about the place. And we bring our trophy back down the east lancs!!

Lol makes me laugh, people were saying just wait till salah and van dijks contracts expire they will be fucked, now they've resigned and we are going down the age route. Salah still has plenty left in the tank for one.

Give salah loads of space like we normally do and he would still cause us issues in his 50's
