But there lies the problem.

When it comes to MCFC there is no other side.

We've been castigated as the proverbial cheats.

You strike me as an intelligent individual Slotter, and you can surely see this.

These charges that have been leveled at MCFC are very provocative. They infer. They're very suggestive. They imply that any success the club have had over the past ten years is a result of deceit and financial irregularities.

That's why people (especially your fans, and those of the rags and Arsenal) call us cheats.

I know this, because I've spoken with plenty of said fans and when I ask them to elaborate on their views on how MCFC have cheated; they often hesitate and mumble about some vague financial shenanigans.

I often say to the rag fans I meet, "so if our cheating is solely down to financial irregularities or even sponsorship doping then how is that any different from your club operating from a financial club deficit (debt) of £1B"

Now, what I find interesting and I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum who can clarify this: if as you suggest, most football fans are not interested in the financial side of football then why do they feel so compelled to discuss money when they talk about MCFC. The two have become synonymous.

I have yet to have a discussion with others fans who are willing to consider that the decade of success MCFC have enjoyed is due to anything other than money spent.

My opinion is that we've spent about the same as the historical top four clubs have spent over the past ten or twelve years.

What people don't appreciate is that when Sheikh Mansour bought our club in 2008 his goal was to develop the best football club in the world. The media thought him a joke.

However, he cleared our debt, invested significantly in the club and the infrastructure. He hired the best in the business to develop the footballing side of things.

Although the media initially mocked our "project" most clubs in the land are proud to announce their own projects these days.

Racism doesn't come into it.

The majority of people who settled in Liverpool would have come from Irish descent.

The majority of those would have been practicing Roman catholics who display a reverence towards death, compared to say a non-religious demographic.
 
Liverpool have a new striker (and they've tapped up a 2nd in their typically dirty, underhand ways).

Oh the irony given that Liverpool FC is a bastion of racism.

They'll very deliberately insist on you pronouncing his name correctly - "Ek-oo-tee-kay" but this presents an opportunity to wind them up.

So in their earshot it's "Eku Tea Cake", "Eku Tikka" or "Echo Tea Kay" or "Eku TkMax" for me.

A friend came up with "Eccles Tea Cake" which might raise their hackles a tad more.

Watch their faces twitch, some will not be able to help themselves and jump in to correct you with a deliberate "Eku-tea-kay".

Try it. Just change one bit of the name and they'll fall for it like lemmings off a cliff. All harmless, wholesome good sport.

If you're feeling really bold and really want to remind them of their hypocrisy remind them of why they booed Arnold after 20 years service last season or ask them why their club had their players wearing T shirts in support of a serial racist.

But, be warned, they can get very defensive or even violent (and they tend to get away with it).

For now it's a bit of gentle echoes of tea cakes for me...surely they can't be offended by that...

Or can they?

Liverpool: offended by everything and ashamed of nothing.

surprising enough, the bbc have.
at the end of the piece the writer goes on to randomly mention some other times players have been racially abused,
the undercurrent being that it's not just bin-dippers, honest guv.

They have some serious problems in the midfield and the backline.

I think that, in terms of athletes in Midfield and defense, they are the best in the league in terms of pure athleticism (although I think Van Dijk's legs are starting to show their age). However, they lack someone who can read the game and make the necessary adjustments in either the backline or midfield, and it will ultimately cost them down the line.

Didn't seem to impact them last year and it's the same midfield.
