As we found out with Gundogan, Walker and De Bruyne sometimes world class players form can dip dramatically as age catches up with them. Salah and Van Djik have been your two most influential.players of the last few years, if they suddenly fade you will start to struggle. Luckily Allison, who saved you countless times in Saturday, is still top notch.
Wirtz I haven't got a clue about really but players often struggle to adapt straight away to the premier league. Palace are a hard team to play against, especially at their ground. Their coach is top notch.

Wirtz is a very tidy player and still gutted he didn’t end up at City. David Silva didn’t look great when he first came to City all the way back in 2010, then he scored that goal against Blackpool and he kicked on from there. It’s too early to be writing Wirtz off as a flop just yet.

They have had serious defensive problems since the start of the season. Van Dijk is 34, Konate in the last year of his contract, two new FBs... They don't have proper wingers as well (Salah is more of a forward, and he's 33...). Diaz was huge for them last season.
Loss of Diaz and Jota has been underplayed for sure. Diaz was physical and work his bollocks off. Jota scored important goals.

I don't think anybody has written him off except the usual reactionary internet fans who go ballistic after a loss or one bad performance.

To be fair mate David Silva came to a side that was on the way up not actually at the top of the tree, he was bought as a player that could help the project. In todays money Silva would have cost us around £37,000,000 whereas Wirtz cost the scouse £116,000,000.

IMHO Wirtz wont have anywhere near the impact playing the kick and rush shite that the scouse do, we'll never know how good he is or could have been but even if he hits some potential I doubt he'd reach the heights Merlin did.

Sadly he is, i think he'll turn out to be a bloody good player for Liverpool

Nice to see Jay Bothroyd making Gallagher squirm again re: Salah’s handball on that ref watch shite on Sky

Gallagher is just a yes man who hardly ever says anything controversial. I think Bothroyd has just been chosen to vigorously oppose him lol. I much preferred the old football show on a Monday. Sky's coverage has gone downhill rapidly and it wasn't high before.

The initial signs are not well & good and long may it continue! The pressure of that high of a fee is very underrated. It takes a player of character to shake off that pressure and play consistently to a standard that sort of fee demands. Let's see how Wirtz copes with that sort of pressure.

I personally feel like he has joined the wrong club and his style of play is ill-suited to Liverpool (Back at you Mr Spitty).

Lukaku is decent, in the right set up.

He has a brilliant understanding with KDB.

Isak appears to be the classic PL over hyped phenomenon because he scored a few goals.

Never worth what the Dippers paid for him, fuck em.
On their post match thread there were quite a few posts suggesting Wirtz and Salah need to be benched - a little questioning Slot's tactics

Mardarse fuckers

Agreed. Its nice to enjoy his slow start but he'll come good no doubt.

I think Ekitike/Isak will give them a headache as from what I've seen Ekitike is a serious talent and could be better than Isak. Might get some ego clashes as Ekitike already got sent off for sending a message and we're 5 games in.

That was and remains my biggest fear about the amount of change that we have gone through in this last window. I think perhaps that is why it is taking longer for Wirtz to really show what he can do.
There have been tony flashes but then the odd bounce or too much weight on a ball, or as with his big chance against Palace, the right touch and the confidence will make things so much easier.
At least he was wanting the ball on Saturday.
Irrespective of how lucky and bad we have been it has been said by a few others, we faced a excellent coach and team. You look at the likes of Palace and last season, Forest and have to take your hat off to them. To bring together players who aren't, or weren't huge names and get them to gel into a great unit has to be commended.

Absolutely. We are in the same boat with our new signings, on top of trying to settle in they are picking up injuries.
Everybody wrote Rodri off when he first arrived here. Too slow, can't turn quickly enough etcetera. Look at him now ( Present injury recovery form aside. )

You've avoided defeat a few times already this season, I am not sure if that's a good indication or not.
I’d say it is a positive for them.

They drew 9 games last season, the most by league winners since Leicester. Changing more potential draws into wins, even if the odd defeat comes with them, over the season will see more points.

84 points was fairly low to win the league by 8 points, last season.
