They weren't all that last season either. They were just consistent in a season where everyone else was fucked with injuries. And it showed as soon as they played someone decent in a CL match that actually mattered.

Unfortunately, this one doesn't matter either. You've got to be absolute dogshit to fail to get through this initial group stage at least into the play offs.

Fair enough. I did watch a video the other day suggesting that they are massively overperforming their 'underlying numbers.' i.e. They are getting results their performances don't really merit. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, are right where you'd expect based on performances. Basically the best team in the league right now.

I'm shocked. Not only were they finally punished for one of their trademark "flailing hands" challenges, but they also didn't get a penalty as the officials instead chose to go with the evidence, which clearly showed the Liverpool player booting the Galatasaray defender and not vice versa.

What is the world coming to? If they're refereed fairly, how are they supposed to pick up points?

On a separate note, any candidates for Wirtz signing of the summer? Anyone come to mind where you'd say Isak waste of money? Maybe somebody who has shat their Kerkez and is starting to Frimpong the place out? I think clearly it has to be a city player with all the millions of petrodollars they've spent, that Donnarumma hasn't scored or assisted a single goal yet has he?

Mental trauma.

I think Carragher is right to identify some very weak performances but I don't agree with his explanation. He's putting it on Wirtz effectively without naming him.

IMO Lverpool have as a squad are being hit by post-title winning malaise. That used to really concern me as a City fan when we won the title. I'd always be looking for the mental attitude of the team in the opening weeks of the season.

They've got Chelsea next. A pity because Chelsea are not playing well either.
