This is not true. We all know every European game played at Anfield is in front of a sell out crowd of the most knowledgeable fans in the world. A magical European football evening under the Anfield floodlights.

Little liverpool are in decline .Cant wait until the new stand opens and its half empty on match days.Got no time for that club after they bricked our coaches on the hillsborough anniversary match and cheered yaya,s injury.Their manager is a twat and the hoardes of ex players earning a living as pundits and making snide remarks about City can just squirm in their seats as the anfield ship slowly sinks.Lets see how many of their loyal fans stick by them as they turn into just another mid table club hoping to progress in the thursday night cup for teams who are not very good.lol at little liverpool.

Liverpool were languishing in the 2nd tier of English football & going nowhere, they appointed Shankly who completely transformed the club into a team that was challenging at the very top for years. He was a huge character who always spoke his mind & only accepted his way of doing things but he had football in his blood.

When he left Liverpool he suddenly had no association with the game he loved so dearly. To keep his sanity & fitness levels (he was a real fitness fanatic) he still went to Melwood to train & keep his ties in football. Members of staff at Liverpool noticed that the players were still treating him as the manager instead of Bob Paisley (his successor who'd formerly been his assistant).

It was decided that it was in the best interests of Liverpool if Shankly had a clean break & stopped visiting the club. This angered Shankly a great amount & put a further wedge between him & the members of the board, who he'd always had a strained relationship with due to his outspoken nature. Seems as football was his life he started spending time at Bellefield & developed an excellent relationship with Everton as a result.
The same Shankly they appointed patron saint no less, rewriting history like no other club.
I remember that story from a while back, but it rarely gets any airing in the media, which is pretty astonishing given the significance of such an uncoupling.

He is getting sacked next week - Everton will smash them tomo

The match preview on RAWK talks about the history of Everton and conveniently manages to skate over the truth, merely saying that Everton couldn't pay the rent when they played at Anfield.

The real story is that Everton were the original occupants of Anfield but the board wouldn't allow the chairman John Houlding (who was a brewer) to exclusively sell his beer in the ground.

So him and a friend bought some land that was required for access to Anfield and hiked the rent to a level Everton simply couldn't afford. They had to vacate Anfield and Houlding then formed Liverpool and bought a load of Scottish players so he had a team to play at the ground.

Quite fitting then that such a plastic club have so many plastic fans. One of these glory hunters (I think he was from the former Yugoslavia but lived in Holland) ) tried to convince me that he only supported them because Shankly was a socialist, even though he couldn't have been born when Shankly was their manager. I laughed and said "Well if you're such a socialist then why didn't you stop supporting them after Shankly died and they were one of the leaders of the group that threatened a breakaway unless they could keep all gate receipts instead of having to share them with the visiting club? After all, that's the ultimate antithesis of socialism." Needless to say, I got no answer.

Why the fuck do they always use their full club name

"Liverpool Football Club"

Always that

I hope you placed your right hand across your heart and bowed solemnly towards the hallowed Anfield, as you typed those three sacred words.
I know I did so - and I was only quoting them.

I suppose it's to differentiate between the club and Liverpool as a city.
It's usually bloody obvious from the context but if it eases their addled minds..............
they also took the liver bird which is the symbol of the city and not the club.
