Scousers like to flatter themselves that they live at the centre of the universe. Of course, Liverpool was an important place in the 19th Century, round about the time they were building warships for the Confederacy. They've been in decline for many, many years. Now mainly famous as home of the Beatles, location of car and dock strikes, and mass unemployment. Manchester is a much more successful and prosperous city as things stand now. Greater Manchester has more successful football clubs too, for people who live in the present.
