I honestly think they are either completely deluded or deeply sinister. One or the other.

If you are in a position of power and persuade yourself that everyone - apart from a few like-minded folks - is against you, the chances are you are seriously deluded. When your experiment blows up the entire economy, and you still think it's all a conspiracy, then it's really time for two doctors to put you away.
