One of our political problems is short-termism so at least credit for a plan for growth that, even if it worked, would take years to be evident. But there's no impirical evidence that it would work.

The problem is that you can never really tell what causes growth or lack of it. And when it is evident (the Brexit slump) you can always blame something else.

She was very clear that she understands the problems.
More intention to feed the starving of today with pie that may or may not be present in years to come.

I assume this desire to "grow the pie" indicates that they've replaced the magic money tree with a magic pie tree.
