Liz Truss

How they left the country 12 years ago isn’t relevant to now though.

It‘s in a much worse state now that it was then anyway.
I don’t disagree, I’m just making the point that just saying Labour would be better is in my opinion just settling for the least worst outcome. We desperately need political reform and have politicians who can lead and improve the prospects and opportunities for all. I’m just not convinced Labour would in the long term be any better In their current guise. You only need to look how fat Starmer has shifted towards the right to know that all he cares about is getting the top job not making a fundamental difference to millions of lives across the U.K.

Clearly you haven’t read my entire post. Not once did I or would I defend the current government but just saying a Labour Government would be 10 times better with no foundation is laughable. The way they left the country after their last term would suggest they are no more competent or capable.
They left the country on the road to recovering from the global financial crisis, a crisis which the Tories successfully managed to attribute blame to the government of the time assisted by the right wing press. Since then we’ve had 12 years of slow growth and depleted public services, and it’s not just me saying it, the latest version of this shambolic Tory government are saying it too.

Labour would be 10x the government compared to this shower.
In all honesty, I'm not entirely sure Labour would relish the opportunity of being in power this winter. It's going to be economic carnage for the foreseeable, and, what is more, the Conservatives have already half-inched some of Labour's best policies. They simply don't have that much left in the policy folder and there's no money to play around with anyway. For all the talk of being constantly on a war footing, they will have planned and budgeted for the next Election to be in 2024, so it makes much more sense for them to allow the Conservatives to carry their cross and to stand on the sidelines crying: ' oh, but íf only we had a Labour Government in power...'

If parents in 2052 are scaring their children about the evils of Conservatism and reminding them of the horrors of life in the 2010s and 20s, Labour's job will be done.

I assume you’re aware why the country/world was in a financial crisis at the time ?

Generally, whoever is perceived to be closest to the centre ground wins the elections in the U.K.

Whilst I agree that Starmer doesn’t need to shift anymore to the right, it won’t do him much harm in the next election as the Tories have become a party of no ideology. They’ve been taken over by neoliberals who have no morality.

No one can predict the future and you’re having a internal crisis as you have come to realise that the party you have always voted for you can’t vote for next time and are worried about what choosing another party might mean.

Ultimately, the Tories need to lose the next election and get all the class of 2019 MPs out and get people like Rory Stewart back in the party. The brain brain has been huge.

It was the last line of your post that betrayed your warped thinking. I'd take abbot over chope. But abbot wouldn't be anywhere near government under Starmer. Chope was a minister over the summer. The absolute worst of the tories are on power. Tories themselves know how shit this is.

As a tory voter you should keep your head down.

One thing we can definitely agree on is the Tories will lose the next election whenever that may be!

Whatever anyones political persuasion we should all hold the same ambition and vision which is for this country and all its citizens to have the opportunity to prosper. Now that might sound ideological but if you can’t start with an ambition what hope is there. What I see now is a divided, broken country which should be one of the best places to live in the world. Sadly the reality is very different and we are heading for the abyss under Truss. I’ve been a Conservative voter all my life but the current incumbents aren’t fit to lead. Reform and stability is desperately needed. Those calling for a Labour government I fear would be just as disappointed with the likes of Rayner, Abbott et al let loose to try and sort this shit out.
I'm afraid that the damage done to our country is too severe to be rectified in the short to medium term.
The villains responsible for this mess should be incarcerated for treason at the very least.
Some people think that the Rt. Hon.Jeremy Corbyn was the wrong candidate for P.M. but things would be far better than they currently are I'm sure.
