Loan Watch 2019/20

A lighter roundup after the midweek action in the Championship and a cup game in North America:

-Luke Bolton came on in the 59th minute for his Luton Town league debut as they fell to Sheffield Wednesday 1-0.
-Tosin Adarabioyo wasn't in the squad for Blackburn Rovers as he was nursing a knock. The manger seems to think he may be available by the weekend.
-Matt Smith started tonight for QPR against Swansea City but was substituted off in the 52nd minute as they fell to the Swans 3-1.
-Aro Muric was once again in net for Nottingham Forest for their 1-1 draw away to Charlton Athletic
-Jack Harrison once again started for Leeds United and was subbed off in the 65th minute before the winner was scored in their 1-0 victory over Brentford at Elland Road. Reports this week suggest that Leeds are very interested in following through with the purchase option in Harrison's loan deal at the end of the season.
-Uriel Antuna came on for the final ten minutes of LA Galaxy's 2-1 loss to Cruz Azul in the semifinal of the inaugural Leagues Cup last night.

Another weekend of footy, another loan watch report:

Patrick Roberts was not in Norwich City's matchday squad for their 2-3 home defeat to Chelsea. In the Championship, Aro Muric was left on the bench for Nottingham Forest's 2-1 away victory over Fulham as Brice Samba made his first start of the season in goal. Luke Bolton started and played the full 90 minutes at right back in Luton Town's 3-1 away win over Barnsley. Jack Harrison got another start for top of the table Leeds United, playing the full 90 in their 3-0 win over bottom of the table Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium. Matt Smith came on for the final 19 minutes of QPR's 3-1 win over Wigan, and Tosin Adarabioyo once again missed out on making the matchday squad for Blackburn Rovers' 0-0 draw with Cardiff City as he tries to regain fitness.

In the Bundesliga, Zack Steffen was once again in goal for Fortuna Dusseldorf as they lost at home to Bayer Leverkusen by a score of 3-1. Steffen made four saves despite conceding the three goals. Lukas Nmecha was an unused substitute yesterday in Wolfsburg's 3-0 win over Hertha Berlin. For the second matchday in Spain's La Liga, Pedro Porro started and played the first 80 minutes in Real Valladolid's impressive 1-1 away draw to Real Madrid, while Yangel Herrera was an unused substitute in Granada's home loss to Sevilla. Thierry Ambrose came on for the final five minutes of Metz's away defeat to Angers in Ligue 1 action, and Marlos Moreno was once again an unused substitute for Portimonense's 1-3 home loss to Sporting in the Premeira Liga.

Neither Groningen nor AZ Alkmaar were in action in Holland's top flight this weekend, but NAC Breda continued their strong start to the season in the Eerste Divisie, beating Cambuur 1-0. Both Ilic brothers started again and played the full 90 as Ivan scored the winner in the 67th minute. In Serie B, Paolo Fernandes started and played the first 75 minutes of Perugia's 2-1 win over Chievo Verona.

In Belgium, Philippe Sandler came off injured after 69 minutes as Anderlecht fell to Genk, 1-0. Thomas Agyepong started and played 63 minutes in Waasland-Beveren's 1-0 loss to Cercle Brugge. Ante Palaversa started again for Oostende as they beat KV Mechelen 2-1, but Palaversa came off after just 24 minutes. Erik Palmer-Brown made his Austria Wien debut, but it was one to forget as he picked up a straight red in the 75th minute of their 2-2 away draw with Hartberg, just six minutes before the home side equalized.

Mix Diskerud was an unused substitute for Ulsan Hyundai's 5-1 win over Sangju Sangmu in the K-League while Uriel Antuna started and played the first 55 minutes of LA Galaxy's 3-3 derby draw with crosstown rivals LAFC.

Later tonight, Ernest Agyiri's Enosis Neon Paralimni take on Ethnikos Achnas in the Cypriot top flight.

Great posts.

Who is Ernest Agyiri? Is he one of the Right to Dream lads? Watched Paralimni a few times when Ive been in Cyprus.

Yep, he's from Right to Dream in Ghana. Had loans to Valerenga in Norway and Tubize in Belgium over the last three seasons.

Great report. Makes interesting reading and great to get updates on these players in the one place.

Cant see Paralimni giving us a fee any larger than the equivalent of changing the light bulbs in Peps office.Strange stuff.
To be fair, RTD signings are more about giving a pathway to professional football in Europe than making a profit (as is the case for most of our other sign-to-loan players).

Midweek action in the EFL Cup:

-Jack Harrison played the second half in Leeds United's penalty shootout loss to Stoke City, missing the final penalty that saw Leeds crash out of the cup. By all accounts though, Elland Road was singing his name after the miss and the fans really seem to have taken to him in his second season at the club.
-Matt Smith played the full 90 minutes in QPR's 0-2 home loss to Portsmouth.
-Luke Bolton came on for the second half of Luton Town's 3-0 away win at Cardiff City.
-Aro Muric was an unused sub for Nottingham Forest's 3-0 win over Derby County in an East Midlands derby.
-Tosin Adarabioyo once again missed out on the matchday squad due to fitness for Blackburn Rovers' 2-1 loss to Premier League side Sheffield United.

For the next round of the cup, Nottingham Forest have been drawn away to Arsenal while Luton Town will host Leicester City.
