Loaning players in the top leagues should it be banned?

On the plus side, Ade is keeping himself in the market and maybe increasing his value from the start of this season. That can benefit us come the summer transfer window.

I partially agree with what you are saying but I'd be happier if players couldn't be loaned out to the same division in the same league but could go be loaned from, for example, Premier League to La Liga or Serie A. Also allowed would be loans from the PL to the Champioship.

I'd also limit the amount of players that could be loaned by a club from another to just 1 - so less playing of favourites or buddies when loaning out good youngsters.

Unless his form collapses after January, as usual.

Lest we forget Ade can play against all our rivals, but not against us.

The system (including the squad limits) is geared to lubricate the movement of talent to the top teams. It stops the top teams from simply hoarding all the best talent simply to harm their rivals (like us) but ensures that top clubs can keep taking a chance to spend a small fortune on untried potential stars (e.g. Sturridge). It also gives them a chance to loan out their squad players for experience (Sturridge, Hart, Cleverly). It also gives the lower teams an opportunity to have a better player in their squad (Sturridge) than they could otherwise afford. It also gives players otherwise stranded on the sidelines (Ade, Bridge) a chance to keep themselves in a career by playing regular football.

It's all round the best of a bad situation.

Some of the more seasoned pros like Ade and Bridge are nearing the stage of there careers to be thinking about playing regular football granted. So if there was no loan system they would end up leaving the club just to play football. Some of these footballers the money has changed them huge sums of money a week while at top clubs. But if your falling from that level then your wages are going to drop for more regular football. I think there will be a change in the way City operate. I think they may well bring in preformace related contracts over the normal contract. Give the players a basic wage and big bonus for the preformaces on the pitch.

The Adebayor loan scenario is a one off, caused by us and no one else. I cannot ever remember it happening in this country in the last 20 years.

If the loan system was not in place Adebayor would be picking up his full wages and doing nothing, at least this way his transfer fee is going up and we are saving a bit on wages. Yes he's improved Spurs but it's not like they are going to win the league is it? If we don't win the league it is because we weren't good enough, not because we leant Spurs Adebayor.

Also if loan system was not in place you may as well get rid of academies and have any hope of local players playing for your club. It is vital for young players.

Take Wilshere for example, talented but not ready for top Premier League football, sent to Bolton on loan, grew up, made his mistakes where it wasn't costly and came back a ready made player. Same will happen with McEacheran now at Swansea.

I'd ban the loaning of players over a certain age (22?) within the same league. The system definitely has its merits when it comes to younger players who are in need of first-team experience, but it is definitely being abused with older players now going on loan. But that is a situation of our own making.

I'd keep the loan system going for teams in foreign countries as it's a matter of fact that some transfers just don't work out. Adebayor isn't at City now because we didn't want him hanging around the training ground and being a bad influence on the players that do actually stand a chance of playing. If loans were banned altogether, we'd have to deal with that particular fallout.

True, but if its only to top league teams abroad.

It would maintain their shop window value, their form and fitness and also their personal development.

A couple of years in Italy or Spain would greatly enhance a player and his own outlook in life.

Otherwise we would lose another generation of players and produce the monosybolic, tactically retarded English managers we have today.

Yes Fat Sam and Arry, i am looking specifically at you.

Nobody forced City into loaning Adebayor to spurs so I see no problem with it. And as others have said, that Birmingham spell for Joe was the best thing for him. Also Wilshere, Sturridge and soon to be McEchran (sp)

Maybe players over a certain age, say 23 for example, can't be loaned to a team in the same division?

This way players such as Hart, Wiltshire, Sturridge etc get experience at the top level.

EDIT - Just seen Dubai's post, ignore me.
