Unfortunately too many years of supporting city for good what ifs. It supposedly keeps us grounded but it kills the nerves, I admire your optimism mind and hope one day I can share it ;)
 
The worst thing about the pandemic is that we missed the opportunity to reignite the best City song of recent years:

"Is-tan-bul, Istanbul, we are coming.."

The EU passport is irrelevant because
A UK citizens are banned from leaving the UK
And
B we are not in the EU, so us using it will require inter governmental co operation. Don’t hold your breath on that one!

as for the roadmap there is no mention of lifting the travel ban unless the June 21st catch all lifting includes it.

Stupid thread on 2 counts
Firstly dont think there will be any chance in hell of overseas travel this year, they wont let us.
And secondly what happens if we lose to Dortmund?
Some people never learn!

The R rate has gone up again today. The ideal world scenario Boris peddles - 'all be sorted in a few months' is already on the slide. We all know how bad the vaccination situation is across Europe. No point in hoping to travel to the final this year.
 
Back in 2009 i booked flights and hotel in Istanbul for the Uefa cup final well in advance.
Unluckily Hamburg famously knocked us out, however i still decided to go just for a mini mid week break.
Seems I wasnt the only one as I met many blues over there and actually bought a spare match ticket from one of them.
Great final between our old friends Shakhtar and Werder Bremen, got to see a young Fernandinho, also Willian and Mezut Ozil.
I would do the same again cuz its an amazing City, 19 million inhabitants and what seemed like 19 million yellow taxis.
However too many variables still to be decided re foreign travel, thinking i leave it until 2022.
 
From the government website
'The government has launched a new taskforce to review global travel which will report on 12 April.'

So no decision likely until mid April at earliest but with all the variants out there and the fact most of Europe is still way way behind us in vaccinations don't see anyway there going to reopen international travel in time for the final
 
I took a punt and was in Lisbon last year. A few of us were over there as the restrictions were lifted at that time. I wouldn't punt on Istanbul though. Don't know why.
