Can't disagree, but as a starting point? Started with Transformer and went backwards. Next thread

Yes Transformer's his most recognised album, but to come out with an album like "New York" or even "Magic and loss" so many years after is hardly going backwards.

No one's mentioned "Metal machine music" yet. I bet nobody's got a copy of it either.

Hey not disagreeing, its a request, the fella's heard a couple of songs. Transformer has got to be a starting point. The rest is an acquired maturer taste.

Hey heard a couple of tracks where do i start? Son I suggest Heroin!

I'm glad somebody has done this thread cause it's helped me out as well so cheers people!

I love The Velvet Underground but have never really attempted to get into any of Reed's solo stuff but I may go out and buy an album or two today on your recommendations.

Transformer is the best starting point.....easy to get into and get a feel of his stuff.

Funnily, just yesterday watched a 'Classic Albums' programme on Sky Arts 1, which was the making of Transformer.....well worth a watch. (Will be on next week at sometime again)
Never realised that the classic Herbie Flowers bass line in Walk On The Wild Side was actually two basses playing.....one stand up and one electric.

And hearing Bowie's amazing vocals at the end of Satellite Of Love on their own was cool too......and you get to meet some of the New York characters he wrote about.......check it out

I've met lou Reed
He has A SCary Stare

He is great but not done a decent album for a while

Live it's agonising
