Go on You Tube for the full HIGNFY episode when Saville was on - Hislop and Merton fucking lay into him - they knew the stories that were doing the rounds - I think the BEEB suppressed a lot of it from going to air. There's a piece on there where they kind of deny it but show clips of Saville but there are definitely bits I have seen where Merton is losing patience with Saville's almost boastful comments on how his fame helped him

I thought the most powerful part of the documentary was when they showed the bit where Saville thought the cameras were off and his entire personality changed and he was bragging about locking guys up in the boiler room and how he had power over the police and never got nicked. That was the real Saville and it was a scary image.

One of the rippers victims was discovered very close to Saviles home. Was close to Sutcliffe and was pictured alongside Frank Bruno and Sutcliffe sharing a masonic handshake.

I found Theroux's whole "examining his conscience" line completely disingenuous. The documentary was made near the start of Theroux's career and was designed to add to the mystery and intrigue surrounding Savile. So I doubt very much that if he did suspect Savile was a paedophile he had any desire whatsoever to expose him.

After the first documentary was aired, one of Savile's victims reached out to Theroux and told him about his alleged abuses. Theroux then reported this to the BBC and is on the record as doing so. Unsurprisingly the BBC did nothing about it. It's all there in Dame Janet Smith report.

To claim his sincerity is disingenuous is a bit harsh. He did more than most. There's a distinct difference to hearing rumours about him being a wrong un, and someone specifically saying he had abused her and then upon hearing that acting on it which he did.

Could he have done more? Sure. But then that could be leveled at many so many other BBC staff and law enforcement officers over the years who did nothing and had much closer connections to Savile and his victims.

Well you do have to consider what exactly was acceptable and unacceptable back then too. Firstly, men using their fame and celebrity to get women to have sex with them is something that is about as old as the concept of fame. So then transplant that onto a society where sex with underage girls is something that's considered a bit naughty, but nothing to worry too much about, where sexual harassment of all women is just a fact of life, and where there is no oversight of people in power, and it's not surprising to see abuses occurring. Someone like Jimmy Savile took it to extremes, of course, but I read an article just after Bowie died entitled "I lost my virginity to David Bowie" detailing how two girls aged 14 and 15 went up to his room, smoked marijuana, and had sex with him. It was almost bragging in tone about what was technically a sex crime. And he's not the only one. Read about the so-called "baby groupies" and you'll see the likes of Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper and Marc Bolan implicated in sex with underage girls as young as 11.

And if those people mentioned aren't already dead and the crimes can be proved they should be locked up asap

You need a complaint though, and there's no indication that any of the women involved are particularly regretful about it. In most of these cases, we're talking about people who set out to have sex with rock stars and had sex with rock stars, so they're pretty happy about the whole thing. Even though it's obviously exploitation, if the women don't feel it is, they're not going to go to the police. And let's face it, a third of people have sex before the age of consent in the UK. In California, it's probably much higher because over there it's 18. That would be a lot of people locked up.
