The problem is though, the pressures on youth today are far greater, especially with these shallow shows like Love Island, Made In Chelsea etc.

When younger people watch these programmes and they see these blokes on there with 10 pacs and the girls with Baywatch bodies, I think it puts pressure on them to look and be a certain way. I think it makes younger people strive for perfection. Let's not forget that more than half of the people in there have probably spent thousands of pounds to look a certain way to get on the show in the first place. It's pretty sad that the youth of today can't just live their life being happy the way they are and the way God made them.
 
Should be a version that just has sporty healthy intelligent young people maybe doing some really awesome complex tasks, working as a team and showing our youth how together they can partner to do great things. I'd watch that. Maybe.

That's a massive generalisation. In fact one of the lads on it is a firefighter.

So your telling them to look up to firefighters but firefighters are also going on this show. Almost like kids shouldn't look up to people based on what job they do but more the type of character and person they are.

In fact there are plenty on this show with decent jobs and a bit of a brain on them. Some are dick heads but some of them are decent people.

Sure you get 11 months of fame, free clothes, free bar bills and getting fingered by / tag teaming alongside the Repugnant Wayne Lineker at O Beach...But at what cost?

After that year there’s a whole host of new vapid hopefuls queuing up to replace you. Now, at that point you’ve probably made a few quid so the work drying up won’t hit you too hard, but sixth months on your inevitable coke habit, eating/ drinking at posh places is starting to take its toll. It takes someone with a lot of steel to go back to a 9-5 and frankly I can see why that would be hard for someone to stoop to in their early 20’s after being “famous”. I can see quite easily while a lot of these reality stars lives fall apart.

This is a fair criticism of shows like this though and I'll accept a lot of the points made.

Although the counter argument could be that the people going on these shows are going into it with the wrong mindset to begin with if they're expecting to put their feet up for the rest of their lives.
 
Not a fan and haven't seen much of love island, but from what I have seen I think the format of the show could be improved if at least one person on the island was a heavily armed violent psychopath.

True. There’s a whole generation of young men walking round with bodies like mid 90’s pro wrestlers but can’t fight for shit.

Furthermore every girl walking round like some Kardashian clone... same hair style, eyebrows, tan and fuck off tombstone teeth.
