Reserves away at Blackpool night match around 1970 think about 6 of us there , lost 2 0 shit night.
10 of us Travelled to China - Jocky was with us - only 1 match got played due to the Monsoon - Tianjin v City (1-1 - City lost the penalty shootout on purpose as winning team won a car ) - due to the monsoon the pre-season was then cancelled so a few of us got the train to Hong Kong - 36 hours back then - Jocky headed off to Shanghai with a few of the others.Pre season 1996, City played in China. Only one of 3 games played due to a Monsoon.
City flew back early and made a hastily arranged friendly at Scarborough (which I went to).
However if I recall 3 Blues went to China.
Wilson (Jocky) Pratt was one of them and they got stuck there
Thanks for the correction10 of us Travelled to China - Jocky was with us - only 1 match got played due to the Monsoon - Tianjin v City (1-1 - City lost the penalty shootout on purpose as winning team won a car ) - due to the monsoon the pre-season was then cancelled so a few of us got the train to Hong Kong - 36 hours back then - Jocky headed off to Shanghai with a few of the others.
I can't remember any city aways where we've had a bad turnout.
I remember Swindon Town a fair few times at Maine Rd were subjected to the old 'you could have come on a skateboard' chant.
Still got the 'WWYWYWS' chant our way at their ground in the cup earlier this year.
No lads, where were YOU when we were shit?
yeah......taxi maybe but not a skateboardI’ve never heard the “You could have come on a skateboard “ chant in 50 years.
It was almost a year until we played them at home, and we were doing a lot better. One of the lowest away followings I can remember at Maine Rd was Everton straight after the Howard Kendall betrayal. Think they feared mither and they were right to fear it.
Was still a very small following as normally they brought thousands often far louder than Liverpool. It was almost a year until we played them at home, and we were doing a lot better.
