Luca Scapuzzi

This would be ace! enjoyed seeing him in CC.

I'm liking the sound of all these (well two)short loans for younger players to get match fit and come back as PL cover.

By the looks of things (loan to 3rd tier league)....these guys (luca and mancini) are nowhere near that level. This Luca guy is 20 already.

Nice to see our players that are not being utilised by the main squad giving our
local clubs a bit of help again. I miss the pre-season friendlies we used to have at Latics, Rochdale and Bury, it was always a good day out and also helped the teams with that extra bit of cash through the turnstiles.

Good move to get him games. If he is to forge a career here you would expect him to stand out at that level so I will be keeping tabs.

Not talking about throwing them into the rotation, but Luca would be useful if we have real injury wows, but only if he has match fitness.

Yeah maybe PL is a stretch, but domestic cups isn't a level too high.

Has anyone been following tom adeyemi at oldham? Former school mate of mine, just turned 20. Hes scored a few goals this season too i believe

Good for him.

It's a real sense of achievement that our two Italian academy products Scapuzzi and Balotelli are now making good careers for themselves.

Clarkie?

First league goal for Luca this week, the manager has a lot of praise for him, hopefully will get a string of games for us once we've secured the league with six games to go.

Apparently he scored a great goal with Dickov saying he is "sheer class", I think he just needs a bit of bulking up and will then be ready for Prem next season. The guy has touch, vision and can score a goal as well, think he might make it :)

Well on the continent it's more likely to players to develop a lot slower and generally don't play for the giants until they are early 20's, unless exceptional talents - Maldini and Balotelli. lots of players are loaned out to Serie B and C, then come back to Serie A ater. Luca Toni, Massimo Oddo and Fabio Grosso three world cup winning examples.

So there is hope........

It's a strange phenomenon in Italy how so many of their players don't seem to peak until their late 20s or older. Another name is Di Natale who in the past few years has been one of the best strikers at club level probably in Europe but didn't really become so good until he was 31/32!

All being well he'll roll up his sleeves, and put in the hard graft, and get more game experience so that he can break into the first team, he seems to have a good technique, speed and turn so it looks promising for City.......

I think that is the case in a lot of europe such as Spain and Italy. The technique is developed first, then the stamina and strength. Obviously there are exceptions who burst on the scene early, but it is much more a rarity. In England it has often been develop the physical specimen first, which is why many players technique is awful. Even our very own David Silva had to take in some lower league football with Valencia B, Eibar and Celta Vigo before being unleashed on the first team with Valencia.

Scapuzzi looks very tidy on the ball, but a bit flimsy. A bit of League 1 will do him no harm, then maybe in January a few months in the Championship. Him just training here will have improved and attuned him to the rigours of the English game somewhat.
