Fair enough, so how do you define value? I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I'm asking because every time we show interest in an expensive player the forum turns out a whole bunch of objectors. My suggestion is you might not be in line with today's market. 85 mil is the high end for very good players these days, not superstars.
It’s a tough one and it isn’t my money, so doesn’t really matter, but I just get that feeling you get when you know you’ve paid too much.

He’d be a major upgrade on Nunes, as it stands, so makes sense. Pep also rarely plays youngsters in midfield either, Rico aside.

£85m would put him in the top 25 transfer fees ever.

If Pep wants him and that’s what it costs, then it’ll get done if the club think it’s fair value.

If it stops us going for Musiala or Wirtz, then I’d pull the plug.

If you look at Paqueta’s heat maps, you can see that he can get around the park in all directions, and that’s what I mean by energy. I want to see Bobb, Lewis, and even McAtee afforded more game time next season, but their lives will be made easier if the defensive/midfield platform is more experienced and solid. If other players are leaving, then maybe Savio/Couto could be added, but as we saw with Douglas Luiz at Villa and Doku with ourselves, in the first season it can take time to settle and learn, and there’s only so much game time available.
agree Paq comes around on the pitch & doesn`t mind the dirty work but i think his pure pace/acceleration wouldn`t solve the problems in defense transition

I agree with that. However, the best way to avoid chasing back might be to sign players who can keep the ball better.

Sadly he's gone backwards and pissed a lot of people at the club when he insisted on going back to Sheffield despite the club wanting otherwise.
When you
Look at both his and Doyle’s last 2 seasons I think Doyle has been both advised better and also made better choices.

They were both at Sheffield United 2 seasons ago.
Not sure if Doyle has been better advised but he obviously sees his future away from City.
Remember that Wolves have an option to buy Doyle for £4.3m.
The deal includes a 50% sell-on clause for City if the deal is made permanent.
I am guessing Wolves will take up this option.
It is like free money for them.
Outside of staying in the championship, the places to go for McAtee are restricted.
Not going to a championship team like Leicester or Southampton now appears to be a mistake but he obviously thought he can cut it in the premier league and still sees his future with us.
