Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

It is mostly in your head that it is casting a shadow. Someone has to bid for bernardo before he leaves.
Sorry I disagree. )(

The fact Martin Tyler mentioned it on Sunday, it's all over the press, it's all over Social Media & we're discussing Bernardo leaving on this forum now proves he's become a distraction, which is unsettling the fans at least.

With respect - football fans are an angst-ridden, melodramatic, reactionary bunch for the most part.

Today’s drama is tomorrow’s distant memory - the proverbial chip paper.

The fans being unsettled for a few weeks really doesn’t have the slightest impact on the Club’s strategy for this season - and I’m sure the players, the management and the staff couldn’t really give a fuck whether a bunch of fans are venting off on here or on Atwater about Bernardo’s situation.

The same thing happened last summer, and we all forgot about it as soon as the window had closed and we got on with supporting the team.

Just as all the angst about left backs will soon be forgotten once we’ve got a couple of new faces in and showed what an incredible team we’ve assembled.

Summers are like this - it’s a pain in the arse while we’re in the middle of it, but it’s largely inconsequential over the course of the season.

That's the point though. The season's started & the window's still open meaning players could still leave, arrive or both.

I think the common consensus is our fans want certainty over Bernardo which isn't unreasonable.

We need at least one new left back, which again isn't unreasonable.

If Bernardo was to leave, it begs the question do we have a replacement lined up, & if yes, whom? Or do we go into the season Bernardo-less & cover him within our existing squad?

Sorry, but I think fans have every right to wonder & speculate until the certainty of the window closing. After all it's what football fans do right? \0/

Oh sure - we’ll be on here speculating wildly as always, and whipping ourselves up into fits of dizzying melodrama over random shit on Twatter that has absolutely no consequence or meaning.

What else are we going to do?

My point was none of it matters to the club or the players, or our capacity to achieve our objectives and targets this season - or the decisions they make.

Our fans can very reasonably want certainty over Bernardo’s future - it makes no difference to what will happen, and will all be forgotten as soon as the season gets going.

It’s just fans killing time - none of it has any meaningful impact or importance in the long run.

Anyway - it looks less and less likely Barca will be able to get their financial shit together in time to do a deal for Bernardo, and it looks like things are finally moving on the left back situation - so like I said, none of the angst on here matters ultimately!

Again I disagree. City will have a plan & for strategic reasons obviously they're not going to tell us, but we as fans ARE Manchester City Football Club. We've been here since the beginning & will be until the end.

Because our management don't speak openly about everything they're planning (which I wouldn't expect them to), it doesn't mean they totally ignore our fans' feelings & don't monitor these things online.

As fans we've got legitimate concerns about Bernardo & a specialist left back, & that's why forums like this exist online & on social media platforms so we can vent our spleens whether our individual concerns are founded or unfounded.

Fair enough mate - I guess we differ in our perspectives on the importance the Club attaches to the opinions fans chuck about online.

I think (and hope, if I’m honest) they completely ignore all the noise from places like this, and stick to their strategy whatever the fans might say.

Completely agree on the purpose of forums like this - I love the place, and have met some great people on here over the years. Forums provide an important function for fans - I just hope the Clubs don’t pay them any attention!

For the sake of our board sanity, i hope they don't read some of the post on this forum.

with all due respect most have moved on from forums, they probably check some feedback/noise on twitter/instagram
