He is on the bench today.

How on earth Cahil get picked ahead of him !

Probably because Cahill is a much better DEFENDER than him!!

That is so false, it is laughable.

Coming from the pillock who creams over Vertonghan, a CB, because he's "skillful". Seriously Scouter bollocks, fuck off!

It doesn't change the fact that your comment is silly. Under no metric is Cahill better than Luiz.

Well today Cahill was immense for Chelsea..

Exactly, Luiz came on and got mugged off on numerous occasions, I think he'd make a good midfielder but he cannot defend, simple as that.

I think on his day, Luiz is an excellent CB, but he really needs to address his temperament and concentration issues. He causes far too many free kicks.

Kinda like Kompany, no?

Well... my first reaction to your post was Hell no, but come to think about it you are right; Vincent sometimes unnecessarily causes set pieces, but he difference between Luiz and Kompany is that in V's case, it's always the ref's fault. :)

Perhaps in 2 years when DL is older, he too can be like VK. :)

luiz struggles with his concentration at times, and he has a bit of an appetite for insanity, but hes still miles better than cahill, who i honestly think is a really average centre half

I thought he was outstanding last night, definitely getting better game by game.
He has been good for a while now. It is only on BM where fans hold on to his few mistakes and pretend it is a daily occurrence. Same with De Gea. He has been fantastic of late for United, but BM pretends he has been stuck in August and September when he had some howlers.

I think the issue with Luiz is that his "howlers" have more to do with his approach and concentration rather than his talent. It is clear that Luiz is quick and offers tons of talent on the ball. But he is still trying the same odd passes, mistimed runs and wicked clearances (all three against Benfica). They just arent being punished.

These bits if magic look great when they come off. But as Luiz builds a reputation for the insane, it's less likely to come off. Duncan Jones is a clear example of how when they find out you carry it forward, you'll no longer be able to carry it forwards.

Tactically speaking Chelsea get caught playing the high line every single time. Luiz just doesn't yet grasp how to let the defender play off his shoulder in these circumstances.

Will he be great? Probably. Is he now? Not so much.
