They had to sell to buy though.

Chelsea look to playing along with FFP so for Jose to sign Matic they had to sell a player, Mata was their most expensive asset that was hardly playing and nearly 40m came in for him, I reckn if we offered that Chelsea would have sold to us.

Mata was dead wood to Chelsea.

Was thinking the dame thing. He signing with Chelsea in Aug of 2011. So he should qualify no? Wasn't that keen on the idea at first but as a homegrown player that would make it an intriguing signing. To me he's Dzeko with pace. So to get an improvement on Dzeko, plus a homegrown player makes sense to me.

I think Lukaku becomes homegrown at the end of this season when his third season in England is complete. I looked it up and Chelsea fans are under that impression too, they didn't want him loaned abroad or else he would have lost the chance to become HG.

Add another 10 million to his price tag then on top of the extra 10 million that they'd want to sell to a rival on top of the 25 million they'd rate him at in the first place. :P

Not good enough for us. Unless we can pick him up as a squad player for around £15 million.
