1) We brought in Fernandinho, who's on another planet.
2)Because he's crap and scared of the ball.
3)Probably the one worth keeping
And i'd rather give MDM a new 10 year contract than wait for them to come good !

Have you been on the magic mushrooms or u about 12 years old?.

Firstly Barry would have been very useful to us he's still a very good player. Fernandinho & Yaya are having to play a lot of games.

Lescott has been playing well & he's nowhere near as bad on the ball as people make out.

MDM is a liability, the argument that he's better on the ball is wearing thin, in case you didn't notice he keeps making absolute massive f*ck ups in key games and he makes Lescott look quick!!!

Richards & Rodwell were two excellent young English players and now they're being written off
by City fans, it makes no sense, injuries have set them back.

Either your not a City fan or your just a complete and utter thick tw*t - which one is it????

Or maybe just a city fan with a different opinion,.

- Fernandinho a massive step up on Barry, especially given the way that Pellegrini plays AND the fact that it is a WC year meant that not only didnt we want to keep Barry, but he also didnt want to stay. End of.

- We need a powerful left-sided CH who can also play. Lescott can't. Nastasic is cover, but not 1st team (seems to have suffered from lack of concentration & playing in an expansive side in pretty much the same way that Barry would have).

- I thought on watching the pre-season tournament that Milner played well, and he's certainly useful, but - when push comes to shove - he's competing with Yaya, Nasri, Silva, Navas. The only one he would possibly have the chance of getting infront of is Navas, and given that he can't provide the impact that Navas does his opportunities are bound to be limited.

- Rodwell & Richards are crocks. In the case of the former it's been a career long thing, great potential, even shown a few flashes for us, but his hamstrings are fucked. Amazed that we signed him really as we can't say that we weren't warned. Richards is - and has been for a couple of years - at least a stone overweight. IMO the bulk that he carries can't help his muscular problems. I know he says that he doesn't lift weights but my sincere hope is that once Lescott departs this weird, homo-erotic game of oneupmanship that he they seem to have might mean that Micah reduces in bulk and concentrates on football rather than being our club version of Lenny fucking Henry.

IMO, Chelsea have the best left-back in the league at the moment (Azpilicueta) and Mourinho has been publicly gushing over him, something I'm sure Shaw has read or heard about. I know Shaw is a Chelsea fan, but if you offer him the #1 left-back spot, which I don't think Maureen will do, then that could swing things in our favour.

The hard decision for us would be Clichy or Kolarov out...

Clichy - counts as homegrown, lower wages than Kolarov, solid defensively

Kolarov - the most dangerous attacking left-back in the league (if not the best defensively...) when you give the ball to him to cross, so always a useful rotation/impact option

Definitely a new left-back on the way I think, the links with Shaw and Moreno are very strong.

There's no way that Azpilicueta is the best LB in the league, he's just the most solid, as he does absolutely no attacking at all (as is Mourinho's way). With that being said, I don't think Shaw is Mourinho's kind of player at all. He's much better going forward than defending and he's far from th finished article. Mourinho doesn't play people who aren't already good enough and he doesn't value anything in defenders other than how solid they are. I'd be very surprised if he wanted him. (less surprised if Abramovich did)

While I agree Mourinho is a very defensively minded manager, to say he doesn't care about their attacking talents is simply not true. Why else would he have played A.Cole in his first spell at Chelsea, Maicon at Inter and recently Marcelo at Real when there were more defensive options available to him? Have to admit though that there's not much of an offensive threat carried by that backline of Chelsea's at the moment.

Ivanovic has been decent for them going forward this season, I think he has scored 3 goals this season but I am not sure on his assists.

John Terry will always get a few in a season too.

Scoring goals from set pieces is not the same as attackingthough is it? Azpilicueta does not get forward, he does not participate in attacks. He has no assists, no goals and doesn't even average one cross every two games.

As for why Mourinho played Ashley Cole in his first spell, it was because he was an exceptional LB at that point, both attacking and defensively, as was Maicon in his time at Inter and he balanced them out with unadventerous fullbacks on the other side (Chivu and Ferreira). As for Marcelo, he did many things differently at Madrid that he wouldn't normally do, as his usual style would not have been accepted (probably why he failed there) and even then he spent £30m on a leftback to hopefully replace Marcelo, while keeping the offensively inept Arbeloa as his unopposed RB. (still no idea why he did that)

Others may disagree, but as far as I can tell, Mourinho picks the most solid defender, then any attacking they can offer on top is a bonus.
