I think ball retention looks like a priority than an agile and fast midfield. This also looks like a bit of a typical overthinking Pep's team. On normal days if someone would have told Pep he would be facing a team 7th in France he would have played 3 academy players and still would have won 4-0. But again this team is also in the quarterfinals of a Champions league so what do I know!

I can’t think of a single attribute in which he might outrank Fernandinho. Not as strong, not as alive to danger, not as good in the air, not as quick (even with a 15 year advantage), and no better at bringing the ball out of defence. I’m baffled by his inclusion....as indeed I am by the entire team selection. No idea what formation we’re looking at. Three at the back maybe?

Knowing Pep, there’s never a static formation, it’ll change between defence and attack.

I like that Pep plays Cancelo at LB, just what I wanted. Mendy is not in form and Cancelo have been excellent.

This line-up is really really good. We will control a lot of the game.
And Garcia is a really good defender. He reads the game so well, and he knows how to defend. I prefer him to Fernandinho.

I’m EXCITED and not at all nervous.
Let’s go!
