Lyon (H) - Post Match Thread

Not sure why Gundogan is being singled out again. Fernandinho, Delph, Walker were all pretty poor for me. Sané changed the game but we could have just as easily taken Fernandinho off at that point. With Mendy still injured I'm not really sure why we didn't start with Sané tonight, especially when it meant playing with Bernardo in the right when he's played really well in the centre.

We had an off day, but I'm pretty confident we'll still top the group.

he isn't being singled out....but yet again he was poor.....others are poor sporadically...he is poor continuously...but tonight he was joined by the vast majority of the team

Poor first half probbaly because of selection.
Second half better but still sloppy at times.

A lot of credit to Lyon too though they kept themselves in groups of 3 - 4 and harrassed our midfield in packs causing a lot of errors .

Positive though another record broken, longest run of consecutive defeats for an English team with 4 in a row

Not good, started badly and it continued for the whole of the 1st half. Players looked like they had the attitude that all they had to do was turn up and things would work out.
That's 4 CL defeats in a row. Poor performances from Fernandinho, Delph, Walker was not good, D Silva couldn't work his magic. Even after we got it back to 2-1 with 20 plus minutes to go we could barely raise the pace.
What is going on with Jesus? Looking bang average these days.
Puts a big hole in our chances of topping the group, need to win at Hoffenheim next time out for starters.

Worried about fern.

Also, what kev does that others not so much is that he makes decisive, fast, direct passes/decisions and he has runners because they believe he’ll do it. Too many others seem content to knock the ball around simply for the sake of safety/possession, which lets we’ll organized defenses fall in and impose their physicality.

And with the general performance, would anyone consider that the booing really doesn’t set a good mood, vibe, energy? Just don’t think it inspires the players when they feel like no one wants to be there in the first places, sorry.

Got to wonder why the club isn't doing everything they can to sell out these games. They are not even selling tickets for the top tier for Shakhtar, not sure if this is same for the other 2 homes games. Should be kids for a pound time and lower prices overall to fill the stadium.

Just saw replay of Jesus penalty claim, penalty for me but VAR would not have changed it.

Tonight was a wake up call...if the players think they can stroll around and win either league or this cup they are going to be way short.
