Worst City performance in years.

Not sure you can attribute uch of the original team selection to Arteta.
Delp, Gun, Fern -- all 2s.
Sterling was definetly not our best player. Sane was.

This is Champions League. If we want to even arrive in the semis or actually win it we need to be much more precise, much quicker, much more effective. We also have to want it more. Not only after 70 minutes or second half only.

Many bad performances from the players, Arteta also cant come out of this one with any positives.

2-0 up Lyon had the chance to sit back be more defensive but before that they caused us problems. They hit the post too could have been 3-0 there.

This was supposed to be an esy group but drop points next game which is away from home and its a totally different story. Others will feel they might have a chance at getting first place and that can change the dynamics of the group.

Rest of the two home games are must win now.

This isn’t the same city as last year. It may take us time to get going maybe when KDB comes back it might spark us back in to life but something is definitely missing. We’re playing very slow this year, maybe it’s other teams setting up differently I don’t know.

which teams are setting up differently this season ?

We made last nights PSG look like a prime Barcelona. Absolute dogshit performance and the worse of it was the complete lack of desire in the second half to make up for the first half horror show.
Bitterly disappointed with that. Only consolation is we should still have enough to progress from the group.

well we got that shit display out the way and got rid of that shit favourites tag out the way so we move on to Cardiff. those giving Arteta stick give your heads a wobble .

What does Marhez do? He found Sane with a cross that he should have scored from but in everything else he was so slow. He just seems to pass it back along the line.

Disgracefully sloppy in that first half and it cost us.

Sane changed the game when he come on, easily our best player.

The system should have been kept the same as the weekend, we look miles better with 2 proper wingers.
Makes me laugh when someone suggests that we werent much better when Gundo made way for Sane. I'll tell you what, if Gundo hadn't left the pitch, we would have been bummed.

Like are you kidding me? You compare how things were when it was 0-0 vs when it was 0-2 and claim that we weren't much better just to protect Gundo. This guy is not our level, take it or leave it.

I know certain players were not at the races but whe a player consistently delivers poor to just above average performances, then you gotta call him out.

Pep is the one I blame in all this. I thought we had learned from the Wolves match.

That match was crying out for KDB.

Gundogan and Fernandinho don’t seem to play particularly well together.

Bernardo has been brilliant in the middle, why play him wide?

Sterling is never at his best on the left.

Jesus is badly out of form.

Delph can play left back in certain matches but champions league nights? No where near good enough. Offered nothing bar a succession of poor shots and woeful defending. Lyon’s best player tonight.

that performance has been similar to the vast majority of all our performances this season...sloppy and ineffective. We came up against a semi decent team for the first time this season and they took the chances that we have been giving to other teams yet they have failed to take.
Fans are living on last season and as good as that was it means absolutely nothing now....its in the past

This season we lack cohesion going forward and are defensively more open, weaker.

There are a number of reasons for this.

KDB being out has led to us relying on GUndogan - who makes the team both weaker defensively and offensively.
Ferna - his performances have been very erratic at best -last season he was composed and reliable..this season all over the place....

Fullback on both sides are struggling

Sterling being shifted left as sane not playing - not as effective.
Mahrez having a very slow start -done nothing yet
Jesus - very ineffective and suffering a World Cup hangover

Even David looks like he is struggling.

in the past we have buried our heads int he sand blaming refs and blaming missed chances....tonight was the actual reality...we just aren't playing very well and teams are not going to sit back against us for 90 mins..they defend well but actually hit on the break with numbers and its working...if it wasn't for Emerson and some poor attacking decisions by Lyon it would have been more and they would have deserved it.
