Sad day for the fans. History is not all about trophies and Macc had nearly 150 years. Sad they couldnt find some benefactors in an affluent area to keep them afloat but the issues probably run deeper and Covid wont have helped.
Went to watch them for a day on the ale once when they first made the FL, got into a bar at HT which served Kilkenny (remember that?) in glass pint pots.

Maybe the powers that be could come up with some sort of mad bizarre scheme that includes such ridiculous notions as controlling club debt and encouraging owners who put money into the game rather than leeching it out.....

On a more optimistic note, Macclesfield will reform debt free and gain possession of Moss Rose again. Chester, Halifax, Hereford, Scarborough, Bury... All doing it.

Very sad, nevertheless.

£500,000 debt. Why would you clear that if you were self-made and it wasn't your money owed? It's good money after bad. Reform debt free at a lower level and they'll be playing Conference football again soon.

Clubs like Harrogate and Barrow are playing league football now which is good to see.

I followed Hereford United’s demise and their Trust put an ACV on the ground to try and prevent development.

Its an argument that comes up regularly when clubs fold but is it now time for the lower leagues to be split in to North and South? I'm just looking at the next 2 fixtures for Rochdale in League 1. Portsmouth at home and then Ipswich away. The travel costs alone for clubs making those sorts of journeys week in week out must be significant.

Been saying for years merge the L1, L2 and Conference into North, Midlands & South.

When 3 Championship sides come down just move the boundaries if needed slightly.
