he didn't play particularly well from what i saw, didn't really do much apart from a great bit of skill to keep the ball in.

thought he acted a twat by punching the ground but the yellow was harsh as those challenges were happening all game and he'd not done much before that.

I heard them particularly clearly when he had a go at the linesman, and after he had that strop in the penalty area.

I was surprised that the commentators didn't comment on it, but I'm shocked that there's been no mention of it in tomorrow's papers.

a lot of spanish people are claiming they were chanting "tonto!" which means silly or fool and it wasn't racist.

i haven't a clue myself but lets not jump to conclusions because we all know what that's like to be on the receiving end (sky saying we boo'd the team off vs wolves when it was clearly the ref).

Now this I agree completely with. I'm not sure he's a good fit for that system. Don't think they should change the system necessarily either to suit him. From all appearances, it should be Di Natale and one of either Cassano or Balotelli as the starters. I think he could do well in a 3-5-1-1 more than the 3-5-2.

You're right. He should have shown his passion by attempting to cripple the Spanish goalkeeper like the other Italian forward.

Or kicking the ball in the direction of the net.

I'll make this clear , I want Mario to be successful at our Club , I would hate to be watching the Euros in 4 yrs time and watching him be player of the tournament whilst playing for another Club.

Punching the pitch like that is embarrassing , pack it in and show us the footballer we know you can be.

I figure since the rest of bluemoon is I'd put in my two cent.

He had a fustrating game I felt, instead of simply having a 'good' 'bad' or 'medicore' game he showed flashes of both being world class and also complete naivity, essentially showing his potential but also the fact he still only 21. Perhaps their was simply too much pressure to perform for his country, I can't imagine how I would be feeling at 21 doing the same knowing failure meant demonisation in the press. I fully believe an older mario would have performed better, but he won't be around for a few years yet and we have to make the choice whether we are willing to wait for that man to appear.

Not the most revolutionary of opinions, but it's what struck me watching him last night.
